102 Reviews of Sloane Toyota Malvern - Service Center
We normally use another dealer, but used them for emergency. They replaced iginition cylinder in June because igiition key would not turn at a cost of high hundredes of dollars. Since then we have ha emergency. They replaced iginition cylinder in June because igiition key would not turn at a cost of high hundredes of dollars. Since then we have had same periodic problems. Today problem was much worse and key would not turn over for an hour. We called for tow truck, but were eventually able to turn ignition and instead drove to dealer. When at dealer, they claimed could not do anything because ignition was working for them. Service personnel were condescending to my wife with rolling of eyes when problem was described to them. Were basically told that would not do anything until car was undriveable. That is not acceptable because we never know when car will start. Even if that happened and called tow truck, we were told that if they could start the ignition at the dealer, then they would not do anything because it was working at the dealer. When we called our regular dealer, he said that at a minimum they should have taken for test drive which they refused to do. We have had a Toyota consistently for over 15 years. Would now think twice about a Toyota and would tell people to aovid that dealer. Have read a number of very unvaorable reviews of this dealer on Google which almost replicate our experience with this dealer. More
Our daughter took her 2006 Toyota Prius to Sloane for recall work, and was to have the oil changed and tires rotated there for convenience. The Service Associate told her she needed much more "maintenanc recall work, and was to have the oil changed and tires rotated there for convenience. The Service Associate told her she needed much more "maintenance assurance" work done to the car at 75K miles than it needed, especially since we changed all filters and performed all necessary maintnance tasks at 60K miles. Sloane charged over $350 for unnecessary services, including change of the brake fluid. Brake fluid change is not a recommended service by Toyota. When questioned about this "padding" to the service, the Service Department told us, "wow, Toyota really 'missed it' on this one, they SHOULD have recommended brake fluid change at 75K miles". Note that the brake PADS have not been changed on the car since we purchased it since the "B" setting is used to brake so much; each time the brakes have been checked, they show almost no wear. This was a pretty blatant abuse of the trust of a young woman. I would not visit this dealer without a healthy mistrust of motives for their service recommendations. More
