Was told my alternator was bad. Got car to Southern Mazda and they quickly determined it was a weak battery. Great to work with from start to finish. I was disappointed at the 10000 miles service. I’m used to more such as little details like washing the car, rotating tires, and vacuuming out the interior. This less a reflection of the dealership and more a complaint against Mazda. This type of Lack of greatness makes me regret trading in my 2020 Toyota. More
Southern Auto Newport News Mazda (formerly Hyman Bros) has been my go to service center year after year. I have owned numerous Mazda vehicles of various models over the years and Cleon Skinner, the Servic has been my go to service center year after year. I have owned numerous Mazda vehicles of various models over the years and Cleon Skinner, the Service Advisor, continues to excel in customer care and he goes above and beyond to ensure I’m completely satisfied with the service I received. My vehicle is still in the process of being repaired and I will write a follow-up review once the work is completed. However, based on past results, I am confident that Cleon will make sure the repairs on my vehicle are complete and done rig Donald West 3/24/25 - Review Update. I praised Cleon and Southern Mazda in my April 2024 review, but after 10 months and $4,200 spent on a misdiagnosed oil leak, I’m let down. They kept my CX-9 sitting on their lot for 10 months while I waited for them to fix a small oil leak. After replacing all the engine seals and gaskets, including the rear main engine seal which required the engine to be removed, the problem still wasn’t solved. Over the span of 10 months they had me pick up my vehicle 5 separate times with the guarantee the oil leak had been fixed and every time I picked it up I found oil stains on my driveway within hours of returning home. Finally after losing all trust in their ability to fix the oil leak, I took my vehicle to a local engine specialist repair shop where their mechanic found the source of the leak was a cracked cylinder head. He found the problem within a couple of hours. I requested a refund from Southern Mazda Newport News because the repairs I paid for were based on their multi-point inspection and their guarantee that new seals and gaskets would solve the problem. However, it didn’t fix the problem and the repairs I paid for were based on a misdiagnosis. I received silence from the service manager for my request for a refund.
