We had a certain forester package in mind and he had no trouble locating it and having it delivered the next day. My husband will be needing a car soon and will absolutely go back. Probably the best car buying experiences we've had! More

Best dealership, best car buying experience (with Pete) ever Using the USAA car buying service, we got a great price quote on a 2015 Subaru Forester from both the Brattleboro dealership and Steve Lewis in Hadley Using the USAA car buying service, we got a great price quote on a 2015 Subaru Forester from both the Brattleboro dealership and Steve Lewis in Hadley, Mass. Brattleboro was closer but we felt iffy after test driving several vehicles there, primarily because of the way our potential trade-in vehicle was valued and explained to us. Additionally, each vehicle we asked to drive turned out to be dead empty and we had to stop at a local station and wait for the salesperson to get some gas each time. When Holly reached out to invite us down to Steve Lewis for a test drive, we scheduled it for a couple of days later and followed through, initially with little excitement. We were greeted within seconds when we stepped in the doors and offered coffee as someone got Holly for us. Holly then introduced us to Pete Lustenberger, who proceeded to turn this into the best car buying experience either of us has had in almost 30 years of buying cars. We knew exactly which Forester we wanted at that point and this dealership had it on the lot - furthermore, when we asked to drive it, it was gassed up and 100% ready to go. Pete was highly knowledgeable and showed us many features we had no idea the car had, even though we had done the previous test drives elsewhere. He customized the test drive to duplicate the particular road conditions we were changing cars to better handle (steep, hilly, washboarded, dirt!) His goal, and that of the entire dealership, seemed to be to make things as easy on us as possible, and to give us the information we needed to make a decision we would be happy with. Everyone was respectful of our time, carefully listening to and responding to any concerns we had. There was absolutely no pressure or "slick" sales techniques. Basically, it was like buying a car from a trusted friend. In fact, we think of Pete as a friend now! When the deal was done, Myron was a complete pro at explaining and handling the paperwork. Our highest recommendation for this dealership and the "family" of employees who work there. More

I was intimidated just thinking about going car shopping. Aside from the basics, I know very little about cars and thus, had only a vague idea of what I was looking for in my next car. (At most car dealerships, I'm sure my 'newbie'/'sucker' label would have been perfectly visible!) How lucky I was to be greeted by Doug Bonafilia (a relative newbie himself to selling cars--in my opinion, a real plus over the super slick career car salesman)! My partner, Abby, and I had the opportunity to look around the lot for a bit before Doug approached us, which was nice. Having mentally prepared myself for the dreaded car shopping experience, I had envisioned salesmen circling around us like vultures the second we got on to the lot! Doug quickly put us at ease. He was friendly and welcoming; informative and funny. Though new to Steve Lewis/selling cars, Doug has mastered what so many sales people lack: the gift of fostering genuine personal connections. On my first visit to SLS, we went on several test drives. Doug was patient and understanding--never making us feel rushed or pressured. He spoke to us about helping his own daughter in her search to buy a car (not a Subaru). He acknowledged the largess and importance of the decision in front of me. He asked thoughtful questions that helped me to shape/pinpoint what my priorities were in regards to car specs. He also respected my budget (and my goal to stick to it). Simply put--Doug made me feel that he wasn't trying to sell me "pick a car, any car". He was invested as I was in finding the right fit for me. I am a comparison shopper and, considering the large price tag and my rookie status, I wanted to be thorough to make sure that I didn't 'get taken for a ride'. I looked in Keene, NH, Brattleboro, VT, and West Springfield, MA. Not only was I unimpressed/underwhelmed by the customer service at the other dealerships, I also was disappointed by the condition of their pre-owned inventories. Every used car that Doug had showed us was immaculate--inside, under the hood, and out (paint job, tires, etc)--Steve Lewis thoroughly details their cars before showing them to customers. As my first stop, it set the tone for visiting other dealerships where I was disappointed to find cars that smelled like horse barn and center consoles that were gouged by dog claws--not to mention test driving vehicles that were on empty gas tanks! After these experiences, it validated what I already knew in my gut--I wanted to buy from SLS and I wanted the commission to go to Doug--but--the price had to be right. (I'm on a teacher's salary, after all). Doug assured me that he would go to bat for me. I returned to do more test drives (easily 3 more hours of Doug's time) to whittle down the choice between Forester and Outback. Much longer story short, Doug and sales manager, Joe, made it possible for me to be in a brand new 2015 Forester for only $500 more than a 2012 I was considering elsewhere! I couldn't be happier with my new car and with my first buying experience. Myron, who met with me to sign paperwork, was equally as kind, thorough, patient, and reassuring. If you're about to spend $$$$$ on a car, you want someone like Myron with you to hold your hand through this part of the process! Doug asked to 'deliver' the car to me personally--again, making me feel that this whole experience was as important and special to him as it is to me (though, I know this is what he does every day). He took the time to show me all of the features to my new car before sending me off. I highly recommend Steve Lewis Subaru--they are professional and friendly--be sure to ask for Doug! More

He introduced me to Jon Kubik and Myron Callender who were also very friendly and helpful. Overall I have to say that the service that we received was impeccable. Thank you Steve Lewis Subaru! More

Subaru was by When my son was looking for a new vehicle, we searched for safety, quality, and dependability. We test drove many SUV's and crossovers. Subaru was by far the best. We went to two different Subaru dealerships, and could not find better support and knowledgeable people than at Steve Lewis. So, when it came to my purchasing a new vehicle, it was a no-brainer to begin there. Larry Flakes, my sales associate was extremely pleasant, no pressure, and was very accommodating. He searched until he found exactly what I wanted and gave me an outstanding deal. Donna Starke, Service Manager, explained everything I needed to know now about Maintenance Packages and Extended Warranties and set up my first service before leaving with my new Outback. I could not find one thing that I wished they would have told me and I would highly recommend Steve Lewis Subaru to anyone looking for a great dealership. More

But Steve Lewis (and Todd in particular) made the buying experience effortless. They had just the car we wanted on the lot. My wife and I live in a small town an hour's drive from the dealership, and health reasons make it difficult for her to travel. So Todd Gerry drove the car up here for us to test drive, then drove up with the paperwork for us to sign. For a reasonable fee, they also registered, insured, and inspected the car for us. All I had to do was show up and drive it off the lot. And on Friday, Todd is picking it up to take to the dealership so they can install a couple of options we wanted. This is our third Subaru since our '85 Brat, and the second we've purchased from Steve Lewis. And when this one eventually needs replacing (in 15 or 20 years), we'll be going back again. More
