They told me that I was getting a great deal with another dealership and should go with them. They did not do any gimmicks or tricks, just the honest truth. I wish I started with this dealership. didn't end up buying from them I've heard from other local people that Steve Lewis Subaru is not the greatest buying experience, but the reviews on here told a different story so I I've heard from other local people that Steve Lewis Subaru is not the greatest buying experience, but the reviews on here told a different story so I decided to give them a shot. I started working with Griffin via email in the hopes of finding a Legacy or Impreza to lease. Griffin was very nice and quickly got me to agree to come down to value my trade before determining whether the price I wanted was feasible... but when I showed up at the dealership to talk about the numbers and get a trade-in value for my car, she passed me off to Peter, another salesman. Since I'd been working with Griffin I would have preferred to continue to work with her, but that wasn't an option. It sounded like her job was to get people into the dealership, and then a different person who works on the sales floor is tasked with closing the deal. My main concerns were whether or not I would be able to get a lower payment, and I wanted all-wheel drive. I was up-front with Peter and Griffin about this, as well as telling them right off the bat that I only had an hour that day. Peter talked me into test-driving a Legacy while they ran my credit, which I guess is fine although it was annoying. Since the goal was a lower payment, it didn't make sense to me to drive a car if I wouldn't be able to buy it. In any case, when we got back after the test drive, Peter informed me that not only was the monthly payment *not* going to be lower, but in fact that it would be substantially higher than what I was already paying. He tried to up-sell this by telling me that the difference in gas mileage would make up for it. When I asked if they could come down on the price, he simply said no - he didn't try to talk to his financing office or anything. I told him I'd have to think about it and since the goal was a lower payment it wasn't likely. When I told him my hour was up, he continued to try to sell me the car even though I'd already stated my position. I ended up staying there for 2 hours because every time I tried to end the conversation to get up and go, he'd find something else to ask to make me sit down and listen - but it was never the things that I wanted or needed to hear. He wouldn't budge on the cost, so the conversation was at an impasse. I talked with my partner and thought about it for a few days before making up my mind. In the meantime, Peter emailed and called me, more than once each, which made it even less likely I'd buy from them. When I emailed him back to tell him that we were going to pass for now and would consider again closer to winter, he wrote me a ridiculously long email listing all of the reasons I was making the wrong decision (he even ended it with "thanks for reading my novel"). Between this and the repeated calls, it came off as very pushy. These factors altogether made me decide not only to not buy this car from them, but to not ever buy from them. I ended up going back to Balise, where I bought my last two cars, and got an all-wheel drive CR-V for the price I wanted to pay. The team there was not pushy, worked with me to get the numbers right, and even threw in maintenance for my new lease. The person who initially emailed me back is the same person I met, worked the numbers, and took me on the test drives. The local people I talked to are right - Steve Lewis is not the way to go. More

He is very patient and even took time to explain the interior features to operate the vehicle properly. When a bump was found on one of the tires, he asked the dealership to order a new tire for us. I feel I can trust him, so I am very confident with the purchase. Plus he is a very interesting person to talk to. More
