Worked with Mike via email and found the 4Runner I wanted that they had coming in in a few weeks. Got down to there wanting to see my trade in. Took my 2007 4Runner over to them. We got to a agreed upon trade value. After a few back and forth we settled on a price which I signed for. Low and behold the sales manager came out and told me there had been a mixup the cost I agreed to was for a different 4Runner that didn’t have what I wanted. Beware bait and switch. Mike offered before I came over to pay for my gas. But when they switched cars no gas no apology. Very disappointed in this dealership. More
Dishonest and deceptive sales tactics. After asking for the actual final price for 2 weeks and being ignored, I finally got a different contact from the TrueCar site. I emailed him, and he also never responded. Several days later “Les” called me and I told him of my frustration that Carlos had repeatedly told me that pricing on the vehicle would be competitive to nearby dealerships but failed to give me an actual price for weeks. On the phone Les made no mention that the price would be diffferent than promised by Carlos, and assured me he would be available if I had any questions. He emailed me a price which was thousands over nearby pricing. When I tried to call back right away he didn’t take my call and didn’t return my messages. I finally called back at the end of the day and asked to hold until he was available. Over the course of 25 minutes on hold he was “just stepped out”, “on the phone with another customer”, and “on a conference call”. They finally transferred me to another individual, who confirmed that they had decided to up the price of the truck due to demand, after I had placed a deposit on it. Textbook scam; give a verbal price promise, accept a deposit, ignore repeated requests for pricing in writing, bounce from salesman to salesman, each with different excuses. One of them even tried to tell me that the reason for the price change and their inability to quote me an upfront price is because the VIN on the vehicle is different than the VIN that they report to the DMV. He’s either full of it, or needs to be investigated, dealers cannot change VINs or report different VINs to the DMV. Went to a competitor and put a deposit on a nearly identical truck, with the additional option of LED headlights, for $2408 less. do your research, shop around, and don’t trust a word these scammers say unless you get it in writing!! More
