Here's my experience with Steven Toyota and why I will in the future buy Toyota vehicles elsewhere from now on... I recently purchased a Certified Used 2021 Corolla SE, which is the 2nd of two purchases I've the future buy Toyota vehicles elsewhere from now on... I recently purchased a Certified Used 2021 Corolla SE, which is the 2nd of two purchases I've made, the first being a 2013 Fiat 500 which my wife purchased back in December of 2022. Steven Toyota dropped the ball then. We test drove the Fiat and my wife enjoyed it and decided to purchase it. Upon test driving it, John our salesman showed us where the arm rest which was supposed to be attached to the drivers side seat was missing. He explained that someone who had previously test drove the car, ripped it off. He ensured us that if we purchased the car, they would replace the arm rest. Well weeks later, no phone call ever came and my wife never got the arm rest replaced. Just last Tuesday I had been looking online and found a new 2023 Corolla SE listed for sale on their website, one of a few. So I decided to head towards Harrisonburg to check it out. While on the way to Steven Toyota I decided to call and ask about it to let them know I was on the way to look at it. The sales lady who I spoke with, told me they didn't have any new Corolla's available and they wouldn't have any until May, this being March. So Steven Toyota puts vehicles on their website for sale that they don't have. She did mention that they had some used models. The next day I found the Certified Used 2021 Corolla SE that I ended up purchasing. When I arrived they grabbed John the same saleman as before to assist me with the test drive. I drove the car, the car was clean, stickers on the windshield, it really appeared to be everything it should be, so I decided then to purchase it. While waiting to fill out the final paperwork, John approached me with news that the front bumper needed to be replaced before I could take the car home. At that point I was very confused. If the car wasn't safe for me to drive home in, they essentially put John and I's life at risk by letting me test drive as he put it, an "unsafe" car. John had to dip out while I was filling out the final paperwork so I didn't get to ask any further questions about it. I just don't understand why Steven Toyota would have a certified vehicle for sale on their lot, that had been cleaned up, sales stickers on the windshield, and not fully inspect the vehicle before attempting to sale it. So being it wasn't ready, they gave me back the keys to the vehicle I traded in for the car, and I'm now stuck with it. I called yesterday for an update on the bumper situation, to see when I'd be able to take ownership, and John told me it should be ready by Thursday or Friday, which is over a week from the date of purchase. Nothing like paying for a car you don't have in your possession. The only good things I can take from this experience is that salesman John was a real gentleman, I enjoyed talking with him, and he did the job a salesman should do by trying to make me feel as comfotable as possible. I'm also glad that they didn't sell me the car with a unsafe bumper. I really hope in the future they don't treat another customer this way, especially a repeated customer. DO BETTER Steven Toyota!
