Running a good clean scam. Their call center called me and said for being a valued Mazda customer they were giving a tire rotation, alignment, oil change, and multi point inspection for $44.99. I scheduled to the be there at 8:30 AM, drove across town. When I arrived Patrick the shop manager looked at me like crazy when I told him the deal. After some back and forth, he said he would honor the deal. He called me about my cabin air filter being extremely dirty and that it’s hard to find and kind of expensive but I should go ahead and get it. The price he quoted me was $88.00. I called him back and said, “Is this the same cabin airfilter that all I have to do it open the glove box, take the old one out and put the new one in?” “Yes”, Patrick replied. “And is this the same filter I found on the Mazda Website in 4 minutes for $33.00?”, I asked. “Yes”, he admitted. I told him I will purchase it and replace it myself. I get to the dealership to pay for all the services rendered and he said it was over $60.00. I asked him why he said it’s the $44.99 plus taxes. “I didn’t know I moved to a state where tax on working on vehicles was over 30%”, I said confused. “Oh it’s shop fees too”, Patrick proclaimed. “Got it” I said. $15-20 dollars doesn’t break me at all, I just wanted the deal I was told without attempting to be upsold for major profits. A winter storm was predicted so I needed a repair ASAP even though the dealer was about to close. I arrived just in time and Heather took care of business. She vacuumed the shattered glass and applied an adhesive plastic over the opening so that the car was drivable and ordered the part. In addition, she convinced Mazda to warranty the repair even though it had expired a week prior. The part arrived a few days later and repairs were completed without incident. More
