I went to Stevenson-Hendricks Mazda of Wilmington for scheduled maintenance on my 2014 Mazda 3 and to diagnose/repair an issue with my trunk failing to latch properly. Trey the customer service represent scheduled maintenance on my 2014 Mazda 3 and to diagnose/repair an issue with my trunk failing to latch properly. Trey the customer service representative was phenomenal… very professional. Whatever mechanic worked on my car was not. They said my trunk problem was the latch, spent 4 hours replacing said latch, and charged me close to 500 bucks for diagnostic, parts, and labor and did not fix the problem at all. They they told me it was fixed and sent me on my way so I had to come back. I am not a mechanic, but I am a technician. The first step in any troubleshoot is to recreate the problem. The final step is to function-check your work to ensure the problem has been resolved. The mechanic obviously did not do either of those. The problem turned out to be a pinched wire which was fixed in 15 minutes. After it was finally properly repaired, I was told that the latch was indeed worn and would have failed eventually, but I believe that was just the mechanic making excuses to cover for his failure to do his job properly. At that point, I was fed up with being there, so I just said the xxxx with it, and kept the new latch. I understand charging me for parts, since they have to buy those. Even labor makes a little bit of sense. But they should have reimbursed me for the diagnostic, because they didn’t do a diagnostic. The mechanic just half-assed it, saw that the latch was a little worn, said “that’s probably it,” and initiated a 4-hour, $500 procedure. I give 1 star to the mechanic and to the management that tolerates that level of incompetence (probably because it makes them money). I give 5 stars to Trey’s awesome customer service. That averages out to 3 stars. But I would not return nor would I recommend this dealership to anyone for maintenance issues. More

I recently bought a 2019 TRD off road Tacoma from Leah.
