This is by far the best salesman i have dealt with. Abe is a Wonderful person to work with. He is a book full of knowledge about his cars. I haven't had someone be so detailed and thorough walking me through a sales process - and in showing me all of the car details once the car was purchased! Additionally, both Joshua and Tom were incr walking me through a sales process - and in showing me all of the car details once the car was purchased! Additionally, both Joshua and Tom were incredibly responsive and were able to get me the specific car I wanted within 24 hours - wow! Again, once I got the car, Joshua spent plenty of time with me and the car showing me all of the functions and details. I'm TERRIBLE with technology and hate reading directions so having someone spend time to patiently walk me through everything and answer my questions was incredibly helpful, and appreciated. I also felt that they did a great job of getting me what I wanted while also working with my budget. AND - I absolutely love my new car! Thanks guys :) More
At the beginning of July 2013 I leased a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. The salesman that I worked with was Lenny Johnson. He helped me find a good insurance company and he was able to answer all my questions. He explained all the features of the car. I was very happy with my overall experience at the Stohlman's VW dealership in Tyson's corner. Everyone there was friendly and provided good customer service. More
I did a lot of research before I went into Stohlman, but what sealed the deal for me was that Patrick sent me an email after I made a general inquiry about a specific car (year, model, options) and offered what sealed the deal for me was that Patrick sent me an email after I made a general inquiry about a specific car (year, model, options) and offered on the spot to beat several dealership prices. He managed to do this without coming across as pushy or salesy. In fact, he even offered to speak with me on his day off to talk about what kind of price range he could potentially give me on the car. After I went in, he took me on a test drive and never once tried to upsell me. Taking the pressure out of buying a car is incredibly hard to do - but I was comfortable and confident working with Patrick. He was very friendly, and extremely knowledgable about my vehicle. He explained things about the car to me in a way that I (someone who is not very familiar with cars) could understand. Instead of highlighting the things my base model would not have - he explained the benefits of every aspect of my choice. He gave me confidence in my decision and even talked to me about my concerns about a Jetta I had test driven. Even though they sell VW's at the same dealership, he confirmed some of my concerns about the car and explained why the Impreza I had chosen would be the better option for my lifestyle. He opened with a price (something that most dealerships don't like to do) and we had a very easy going negotiation. He gave me tips for talking to the finance department, and waited patiently while I went through that process. I strongly recommend knowing three things before you go to finance: how much you want to pay as a downpayment, how much you want to pay per month, and how many months you are willing to pay. If you are unwavering on those three things, you'll get the best deal possible. I was in and out of the dealership in under 2 hours...with an extended warranty and service package. After I had come to an agreement with finance, Patrick showed me the service area, introduced me to the manager, explained the best way to have my car serviced and then had my car detailed and gas filled up before I drove off. He took the time to show me where every control was in the car - he even showed me how to hook up the bluetooth! It was the extra mile that took my experience from very good to great. I had driven a rental to the dealership and really didn't want to leave my new car there until I could find someone to take care of the rental for me - but Patrick offered that I could leave the rental there until it was convenient for me to pick it up. If I could recommend Stohlman and Patrick more, I would. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. My only regret is that I took so long to make a decision. More
About a month ago I sold my current car and was dead set on a Subaru Impreza Wrx. I came into Stohlman to check things out while a friend of mine purchased her Wrx. I was extremely pleased with how I was greeted and did not feel pressured into anything. I came upon Randall Tombllin who was direct and to the point, and I could tell he was extremely knowledgeable about these vehicles. I took a few days to make my decision to if I wanted to purchase from them and today I am very glad I did. I put a hold on my Subaru impreza wrx and it was fast and simple. Not even a few weeks later the car arrived and although Randall was on vacation, I was helped by David Jennings. David was extremely pleasant to deal with, and the whole process with him was painless. Before I knew it, I had a great deal and a great car ready for me out the door. This was really a change for me from dealing with past dealers. David explained every little feature I needed to know and was very personable. I would give this Dealership 5 out of 5 and would deal with Randall and David again. More
Randall is the car sales should be. In December 2012 I was shopping for a specific vehicle - a white Outback. We corresponded via e-mail; I got pricing on several different Outbacks. When I selected one, Randall gave me an out-the-door price. A few days later I picked up the vehicle from the dealer - and met Randall for the first time. He's personable and genuinely interested in the customers. In late June 2013, one of our other cars was rear-ended and totaled. My spouse shops differently than I do - so we visited several area Subaru dealerships. Best selection was at Stohlman in Tysons. When we stopped in, Randall was taking care of another customer, but he stopped and spoke with us and made a little time to chat. We walked among the cars for a while and made a decision. As we were leaving, we let Randall know that we'd like pricing on an orange XV Crosstrek. He called the next day, letting us know that they didn't have any orange ones left, but that he'd find us one. Randall did the necessary phonework, called us, and gave us an out-the-door price. We spoke a few days later just after he transferred the car from another dealership. We asked Randall to have a couple of accessories installed on the car and picked it up a few days later. We're happy to recommend Randall and would buy from him again (which we did). More
Just bought a 2013 Subaru Forester from Stohlman. Overall very happy with the purchase and experience! I had already test driven a few Foresters to get an idea of what I wanted. After extensive shopping around in the DC area for a couple months, I checked out Stohlman's website late one night and saw a few new-ish (demo/loaner) Foresters, priced VERY competitively, and had my mind pretty much made up that I was going to go get one the next day. The following morning, I called the dealership and spoke to Mike on the phone. He answered all of my questions, seemed enthusiastic (not pushy- enthusiastic meaning, happy to help me out and answer all of my questions on the phone without being in a rush). I headed over there for the test drive, and again, no pressure at all from anyone (maybe they had a sense I had already made my decision... ha ha). Everyone was totally straightforward with me, gave me a ton of information about my car's trade-in value and WHY they priced it the way they did-- which was great to know and, honestly, made my decision easier since it was obvious my car was going to need a lot of repairs soon... which I sort of knew. They just let me know *exactly* which repairs they would be and why my trade-in car was acting/sounding the way it was, etc. Then, Hesham did his thing, broke down all the warranties and extra stuff that I know the dealership is obligated to do. Normally I would have dismissed all of it, but I decided to ask for breakdowns of everything.... *EVERYTHING*. And he was very patient, giving me all of the numbers I asked for, sometimes having to go and look things up, but in the end it benefited him because I did end up purchasing the maintenance plan and extended warranty (with a $0 deductible), too. On the surface those things may seem like "Ugh, they're just trying to scam me out of more money!" But if you have the time and aren't already sick of hanging around, ask for details- it may not be a sensible option for everyone, but on this car, it made sense to me (and my husband). More
We went through USAA Car Buying service. Shortly after entering our information, we received a call from Scott. He advised that the dealership had the vehicle that we were looking for. I told him we would be in later that day to look at the vehicle and that we were a far distance from the dealership. Later that day we received another call verifying that we would be in so he could have the vehicle ready for us to test drive once we got there. Once we arrived at the dealership, we met with Scott. He was very pleasant to deal with and did not try any hard sell tactics. We test drove several vehicles by ourselves. This was very refreshing, since most car sales people go along on the test drive and try to sell the car too you as you are trying to decide if the vehicle is even right for you. We decided on a vehicle. However, they did not have the vehicle we eventually chose in stock. Scott found the vehicle we wanted at another VW dealership. Again, there was no hard sell. We came to an agreement on the price and the rest was history. We are now enjoying or VW!! Would definitely recommend this dealership and Scott Maynard. More
