Remediation of initial warranty oversight for tire rims The platinum rims that came with my Highlander Platinum Limited were I thought, solid alloy, however were plated alloy rims. I bumped a curbing at wo The platinum rims that came with my Highlander Platinum Limited were I thought, solid alloy, however were plated alloy rims. I bumped a curbing at work parking lot and scrapped the coating off an area of about 8" by 1/4" at the rim edge. If I had known the rims were plated I would have been extra careful in my parking. Now I had purchased a bump & dent policy that covers the whole car, however the policy was not checked-off for the tire rims, so I was not protected. As a token of good will Sun offered to pay for their bump & dent person (Beau) to make a repair. The best Beau could do was polish smooth and match a paint color for the damaged area after three attempts. I am happy with the repair for now, however, I do not know how long the painted surface will last. I am extremely grateful to Sun Toyota for supporting me, my auto purchase,and my otherwise normally good driving skills. In the long term, if a new rim is required, could we work out a 50/50 deal for a new rim? Let us wait and see how this repair works. THANK YOU SUN TOYOTA FOR YOUR SUPPORT! More
