I took my newly purchased 2013 Taurus in to have a new key FOB made and had asked the advisor if the remote start was going to work and he said “Yes, as long as the vehicle is equipped with it.” I got the key FOB made and had asked the advisor if the remote start was going to work and he said “Yes, as long as the vehicle is equipped with it.” I got the key back and remote start does not work. I called reporting the issue and he again said the same thing. “If the vehicle is equipped with it, it should work.” He went through the possibilities of why it’s not working and nothing matched so he put me on hold and came back saying “Your vehicle IS equipped with remote start.” (If he could look that up now, why didn’t he do it before he serviced my vehicle when I originally asked him about it?) He then said “It’s not the key, it’s the car. You’d need to bring it in to have it diagnosed.” So I spoke to the service manager and she said the same thing, but had no reason why this wasn’t acknowledged in my invoice. So instead I called Korum Ford in Puyallup and the advisor there told me that they should’ve tested the key before finishing the service. Testing ‘Lock’ ‘Unlock’ ’Panic’ and ‘Remote Start’. (That is what I paid for after all.) “If they tested it and it failed they either would’ve contacted you to discuss diagnosing the problem or at least let you know what was going on when they completed the service. Since they didn’t, you need to go further up the chain if the service manager isn’t helping.” So the advisor gave me the customer service number. Who then directed me to the General Manager of Sunset Ford. I presented this problem to him 2 weeks ago and he said he’d look into it and get back to me. It’s been 2 weeks and I still don’t have a word. I will never be working with Sunset again, even if this does get resolved. More
