What began with Bill Suntrup opening the first dealership in the 1960s has blossomed into a multi-generational, family-run automotive empire. Just a decade after Bill launched his first dealership, his brother Don joined him, and together, they laid the foundation for what would become the Suntrup Automotive Group.

Bill's sons, Chris and Tom, are partners in Suntrup West County Volvo, with Tom also serving as President and CEO of Suntrup Ford Kirkwood, Suntrup Buick GMC in St. Peters, and Suntrup Ford Westport.
On the other side of the family tree, Don’s children, Butch and Craig, are proud partners in Suntrup Nissan/Volkswagen, Suntrup Kia, Suntrup Hyundai, and BMW of West St. Louis. As Craig Suntrup reflects, "We all started early in the business, around age 12, doing the grunt work—washing cars, cleaning parts, and painting walls."

I'd already visited one Kia dealership earlier in the day and the person that greeted me there didn't have much interest in talking with me, an older woman alone. But I'd done my research and I had question and the person that greeted me there didn't have much interest in talking with me, an older woman alone. But I'd done my research and I had questions. He didn't really care. I prepared myself for a similar experience at Suntrup but it was not at all the same. Walter greeted me (at an appropriate distance) and actively listened to all my questions and concerns. His knowledge of the model is impressive and his demeanor, professional and warm. He met the demands of my schedule with no hesitation and I was driving my new car in no time. When I need another new car, I'll be looking for Walter to help me make the right choice! More
