What began with Bill Suntrup opening the first dealership in the 1960s has blossomed into a multi-generational, family-run automotive empire. Just a decade after Bill launched his first dealership, his brother Don joined him, and together, they laid the foundation for what would become the Suntrup Automotive Group.
Today, the Suntrup name is synonymous with quality and trust. With over 20 family members actively involved, the Suntrup legacy continues to thrive. Bill's sons, Chris and Tom, are partners in Suntrup West County Volvo, with Tom also serving as President and CEO of Suntrup Ford Kirkwood, Suntrup Buick GMC in St. Peters, and Suntrup Ford Westport.
On the other side of the family tree, Don’s children, Butch and Craig, are proud partners in Suntrup Nissan/Volkswagen, Suntrup Kia, Suntrup Hyundai, and BMW of West St. Louis. As Craig Suntrup reflects, "We all started early in the business, around age 12, doing the grunt work—washing cars, cleaning parts, and painting walls."

We have bought our last three cars from an another dealership in St. Louis and we’re hesitant to go to someplace where we knew no one. Hunter and everyone at Suntrup were fantastic. I did not feel pre dealership in St. Louis and we’re hesitant to go to someplace where we knew no one. Hunter and everyone at Suntrup were fantastic. I did not feel pressured or rushed through the process. Hunter was especially patient with my two kids interrupting us and knocking things down off of his desk. I picked the car that I wanted online communicated with the sales rep a few times in a matter of two days. Went in the day after Christmas and in less than four hours, I walked away with the car that I wan the sales rep a few times in a matter of two days.
