Good Experience at Tameron I had a great time with Vernon Ponder. He was fair and a really good guy. I would shop at Tameron again and I am excited about my car. There were no temper flare ups when I initially walked away after we could not agree on the price. They continued to treat me respectfully. Subsequently I did negotiate over the phone and they were willing to give me additional dealership discounts. The car I received is great and exactly as It was promised with all the extras and details. There was no messing around. More
I love my CR-V! All that snow and ice was scary, but I never lost traction and made it home safe. Get one if you don't already have one. Great gas mileage too. never lost traction and made it home safe. Get one if you don't already have one. Great gas mileage too. More
Wow. I was very impressed from the phone call scheduling my appointment until I left the lot. I first started at another dealership called brannon honda that is about 5 minutes from my home and office. The my appointment until I left the lot. I first started at another dealership called brannon honda that is about 5 minutes from my home and office. The service was terrible. So I vowed not to return. I called Tameron because I knew where it was and had heard good things. I called to make an appointment 2 days prior. The lady I spoke with was extremely professional and courteous. The day came and I made the 30 to 40 minute drive. I pulled in the service isle and was immediately greeted by a service advisor. I explained to him what I was experiencing in my vehicle. He was very polite and showed me to the waiting room. Which I might add is top notch. He told me it would take about an hour and a half to two hours. Not a problem because I was enjoying the waiting room. About 40 minutes went by and he called and told me I was ready to go. I went to see him he was smiling had my key shook my hand and thanked me for bringing it in. I have owned 5 different brands of cars and Tameron Honda by far has the best service department and employees. I now dont worry about taking my car in for service because its a pleasure to do buisness with these people and I know that they will do there best to get you back on the road asap. Thanks Tameron! First things first. Trying to get an accurate, out-the-door quote online is an exercise in futility. You'll get a real number for the car itself, but you have to nag and prod to get the figure fo out-the-door quote online is an exercise in futility. You'll get a real number for the car itself, but you have to nag and prod to get the figure for their doc fees. And if you want to know about the dealer add-ons that almost every dealer inevitably tacks onto the out-the-door price, forget about it. So after not being able to secure an OTD quote, I called Barry Butts (Manager) to see if they could beat a very competitive quote from one of their local competitors. He assured me that they would beat any quote, and if they didn't, they'd give me $500. I can't say that I believed the second part of his statement, but I had the day off and figured I'd give it a shot. So I schedule an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. I get to Tameron a few minutes before my scheduled time and was greeted by a fellow in a bright red suit jacket, who turned out to be Simeon Williams. My appointment was with another salesman who couldn't be located after a 15 minute search. So Simeon started taking care of me. The vehicle I wanted (manual 2014 Accord EX) was not on their lot, but I already knew this. Barry Butts assured me that they'd locate it for me, so I wasn't worried about it not being there--I just wanted a competitive price like they assured me they'd give. The competitive quote I brought in was for $24,500. They quoted me $29,000 for the same car. Now bear in mind that $2,290 of that was add ons that I didn't want or need. Prices are as follows: Moonroof Visor, $399; Splash Guards, $399; Wheel Locks, $299; Door Edge Guards, $299; Pinstripes, $199; Tameron Car Care, $695. I let Simeon know that I wouldn't be paying for those, but was told that I would have to because that's how all their cars come (the vehicle I wanted was allegedly being transferred from their Mobile store). He only agreed to take all of the charges off when I let him know that Barry Butts told me that I didn't have to get those add-ons. Once I threw that name out there, the fees were gone, no questions asked. Once those fees were negated, Simeon was clearly scrambling to not lose any more money on a sale. So he goes and talks to the wizard behind the glass curtain a few times. He comes back with an out-the-door price that is EIGHT CENTS lower than the competitor's quote I brought in. Yes, EIGHT CENTS. So he effectively beat their quote and avoided having to shell out $500, all while insulting my intelligence. You see, I drove 120 miles to visit Tameron under the assurance that they'd offer a competitive price. I haggled some and got a lot of slick talking and fake number crunching on a calculator in an attempt to show me how much money he saved me on taxes and blah, blah, blah. But like any smart shopper, I'm only interested in the bottom-line. No matter what he says he did to help me, he only saved me EIGHT CENTS. E-I-G-H-T. I'm sorry, but coming back with a quote like that is a slap in the face. The kicker is that in the end, Simeon went and got the sales manager, who walked up and asked me what's going on. I asked him the same thing, since they wasted my time for EIGHT cents. The sales manager looked me dead in my eyes and said "we did what we said we would do--we beat their price". WOW. I got up to leave at that point, and while the sales manager did offer to shake my hand, I declined. Snakes like that get no love from me. I will say that through it all, Simeon was a nice guy. But like most car salesman, he's a slick talker. If you're a knowledgeable buyer, I'd avoid this place like the plague. When you cut through all their fluff and let them know that you won't play their games, they essentially shut you down. If you're a sucker (like most clueless people buying cars) and think that the dealership is doing you a huge favor by selling you a vehicle for invoice + tax, title, license and fees, this place caters to your every need. My experience at Tameron was easily the worst I've had at a dealership. Never again. P.S. Heather Lumley--spare me your pre-written, half-hearted admission of terrible customer service. More
Me and my wife have bought 3 cars from Tameron Honda and our experience was mixed. Our first car a 2010 Honda Civic LX was an excellent experience and I believe the sales person was Sean Casey. It's been our experience was mixed. Our first car a 2010 Honda Civic LX was an excellent experience and I believe the sales person was Sean Casey. It's been a while so I may not have the name completely correct. We got an excellent price and our trade in was given top value. Our second car was a 2012 Honda Civic EX and my wife went alone. She was actually getting her regular service for her civic and saw a new Civic that peeked her interest. She didn't get such a great price and probably should've pushed for a better price when they presented her with the final best price. I don't blame them completely for the final price. When all the paper work was done, they spring this Gap insurance on you and without my wife's notice, they slipped in a road hazard warranty for tires that added $995 to the already high price of this car. We later went back and the dealership removed this add on, although it did take some persistence on our part. About a year and a half later, we returned to inquire about a 2013 civic Si, just to see if we could afford this car. We weren't treated very well by that sales person and we complained on this site about that experience. This complaint got an immediate response from Michael Cox. Michael Cox contacted my wife and wanted to make it right with us. He acknowledged we didn't have to come back, but only requested we allow him to work with us. My wife talked with him and we were able to work out a reasonable deal. so that brings us to our third car, a 2013 Honda Fit Sport. My wife decided she wanted a smaller car and Michael Cox promised he would work with us and not pressure us into a price we didn't want to pay. These dealerships often approach a customer by asking what you want your monthly payment to be, so you don't know the final price and we personally hate this approach. We can do the math ourselves and don't need to approach it from that angle. We met with Michael Cox and he put us with his best salesman, Johnny Watwood. We agreed on a price, they were able to offer us .9% financing and even gave us $2000 above our trade in value to help us get out from under the old car. The price on the Fit was very fair and we were happy. In the end we were very happy and the only thing i do not like that still exist is the "surprise" gap insurance, that can add $15 to yr monthly payment or more. this shouldn't be sprung at signing, it should be part of the discussed monthly payment before hand. We are glad we could mend a bad experience and we encourage anyone who has had a bad experience to contact Michael Cox and reasonably discuss the issues, knowing he can't move mountains, but he is willing to assist beyond what you would expect from such a large dealership.
