To Mr. And Mrs. Allen: Since each customer is very valuable to us, we conducted a very comprehensive investigation of this specific complaint. The first thing we did was to inspect the vehicle thoroughly. The inspection was performed by an authorized Honda Service Manager with over 25 years of experience. The significant presence of rust indicated that the damage was pre-existing. In fact, the extent of oxidation was indicative of much more extensive oxidation than could possibly have resulted from one or two days on typical Honda sheet metal. The next step was to track the movement of the vehicle during its entire time at Tarrytown Honda through our video monitoring system. The purpose here was to determine the possibility of the vehicle coming in contact with any other vehicle. When the video system was replayed, it was evident that the vehicle and adjacent vehicles did not at any time come in contact with each other. At no point was the vehicle struck nor did it impact any other vehicle. As for the windshield, this claim was not even made until after the vehicle had left the dealership. Unfortunately, windshield chips often lead to cracks when temperature fluctuation exists. Moreover, the windshield damage is not even remotely close to the point of impact of the other damage (rear versus front). Please do not mistake this as an attempt to dismiss a customer’s complaint. However, we observe a set protocol in investigating a complaint to authenticate its validity. In this case, we have a pre-inspection report, the visible proof from our video monitoring system, and the evidence of pre-existing oxidation to substantiate that the damage did not occur at Tarrytown Honda. As a good will measure, I would ask that customer contact me, Peter Zablocki, Service Manager Tarrytown Honda to discuss options. All too often in this electronic society, emails, faxes and texts can be misinterpreted and exacerbate a situation. There is nothing like the face-to-face meeting to clear up differences. We want our customers to be satisfied.
