Was promised a great experience during and AFTER the sale. Trusting and having committed to the sale, the manager, Dale DiDonato, was obnixious and unreasonable, there after when my certified toyota was sale. Overall, I had a satisfactory experience with this dealership. Put a deposit on a vehicle that was in transit; got what I think was a fair (not great) price considering the high demand market for the dealership. Put a deposit on a vehicle that was in transit; got what I think was a fair (not great) price considering the high demand market for the 2010 Highlander SE with 0%/five years. A little bit of back and forth to the sales manager (Dan) on price, which was honored when the car came in. Had to wait for the vehicle prep and finance papers on Saturday, but this was to be expected as it was the last weekend of 0% for five years and was probably the busiest delivery weekend in years. Rob Moran was fine to deal with, kept me posted via email and phone on arrival of vehicle. Finance personnel (Patti for credit application and Andrew for pickup) were OK as well. Reasonable documentation fee and no mandatory dealer add-ons were added pluses. Brief sales pitch for warranty and gap ins. but no pressure. I had no trade so I cannot comment on this. More
probably the worst place to go buy a vehicle unless you dont care about spending too much and being forgotten the second you leave the parking lot. the prices are higher than expected when you finally dont care about spending too much and being forgotten the second you leave the parking lot. the prices are higher than expected when you finally sit down to purchase and god forbid your trading in then you get about 60 per cent of what other dealers would give you. i lost a huge amount of money here when i purchased a vehicle and i am from brooklyn ny and drove the 50 minutes to get the deal promised me but got taken instead. The salespe My daughter purchased her first car, a used 2002 that she found on Vehix at Lawrence Toyota. It came with a 4 month/4000 mile warranty. The salesperson and the sales manager couldn't do enough for us, they were so nice. After 2 months and less than 2000 miles the car broke down. The alternator was bad. I called the dealer and was told that it wasn't covered. I got an estimate from Goodyear....$542. Lawrence Toyota wanted even more to fix it. They would not work with me at all. I offered to buy the part if they would install it. They wanted to be paid not only for the installation but also to tow the car to the dealer. I came in to speak to the used car service manager, Dave Delissio. He would not do one thing for me. He supposedly called his manager and was told there was nothing he could do. I am taking them to small claims court. This dealership's warranties are worthless. As are the people who work there. More
We have purchased 10 Toyotas since 1987. We went to this dealer because the internet inventory indicated they had 2 models of the car we were interested in buying. When we arrived the salesman, Joe DiStefan dealer because the internet inventory indicated they had 2 models of the car we were interested in buying. When we arrived the salesman, Joe DiStefano, could not find either car and had us walking around the parking lot for over an hour looking for the cars. Finally he indicated the cars we wanted were in-transit and would arrive in a few days. We indicated that we were in no rush and would wait until the car we wanted arrived. We test drove a similar model which necessitated the salesman making four copies of our license and then he accompanied us anyway. While we were there, we wanted to get a quote for the new in-transit car including our trade-in. The interaction to get a price and look at our trade-in took forever. The salesman had to repeatedly go back and forth to his manager for input and sometimes did not come back for 15 minutes at a time. The process became exhausting. The last straw was when he took a phone call and delayed the already lengthy process even more. At that point we indicated we were leaving. Once again he went to his manager while we were exiting the building. He and his manager then came outside with a new quote as we were leaving. The final quote was reasonable, but the process and lack of good customer service made us go elsewhere for the car. More
I had a bizarre experience at this fairly scruffy garage. I went into look at the Matrix and Rav 4 as possible family cars. The sales guy was ok with the Matrix, there was one in the showroom, and I had a go I went into look at the Matrix and Rav 4 as possible family cars. The sales guy was ok with the Matrix, there was one in the showroom, and I had a good look around it without much trouble. But when I asked to see a Rav 4, he said he didn't know if he had one, and then took me out into the car park to find one. He found one, which was locked, and told me he couldn't open it as it was sold (I suppose that's fair enough). And then proceeded to walk me back to the showroom where instead he showed me a Scion, and told me at great length what amazing value it was. I had no interest in this car. I don't really get the point of visiting a garage to look at a particular new car only to be shown one in a car park, I can see a locked Rav 4 in any car park in New Jersey. Then to be shown a completely different car by a different manufacturer. As I left, I thought what was the point of that? Incidentally if you check their new car inventory it lists 26 Rav 4s in stock! More
Sad to read mainly negative reviews for Lawrence with Salesmans & Services. I'd just like to specify that my experience was through their INTERNET DEPT. and yes, a REAL internet dept that ACTUALLY commun Salesmans & Services. I'd just like to specify that my experience was through their INTERNET DEPT. and yes, a REAL internet dept that ACTUALLY communicated primarily via email/fax/&PhoneCalls. 09/2009 My attention was brought to Lawrence through Overstock.com's Car Site. Yes, overstock, weird huh? And thru Overstock, you get a list of GAURANTEED Low competitive quotes that is contractually binding & they CANNOT Renegotiate. So it's almost like walking in with a Buyer's Worksheet, ..almost. Keep in mind, they might not have the car (Curry Toyota had the lowest @ 23.4 but they didnt have the car, and didnt care to get it), and if there are any xtr accessories on car not specified during your Overstock Quote, they CAN charge you more for it. My Overstock quote was 23915 vs TMV 23700 vs Invoice 22700. But compared to other dealers offering 23.7 and 23.8, Lawrence was still cheapest Out-the-door after dealer fees ($8 InternetFee, 169$ doc fee, $150 NY Reg&Title) comparable to about 23600. Matt Bliffert is who I dealt with. Great guy, very friendly, frequent followups daily to let me know what was going on w/ assurance they're working on getting my car. There's another Matt there so don't get them confused. Willing to conduct paperwork via fax and email. No hard selling, just suggestions. No xx "required" options like Etching + a few more extras onthe car he didnt even bother suggested charging me since I didnt ask for it. RAV4+3rdRow in the specific color I wanted was extremely hard to find. There are at least 10 toyota dealers CLOSER to me and yet nobody was able to "find" it in the past 2 wks, yet Matt (&crew) found the car in under 24hrs after a few false positives and had it brought up to NJ 250 miles from Maryland in under the next 24hrs. with all the horror stories of relying on the dealer to "find" the car for the buyer, I was extremely nervous, but MattBliffert was extremely awesome about it. They say he was new there, so maybe he hasn't turned to one of them yet but I hope he maintains his professionalism because the day before i went to pick up from Lawrence, A friend working @ the Toyota 4 blocks from me updated me that they recently got the car we wanted willing to sell for the same price, but given Matt's dedication and friendliness in dealing w. us, we felt he deserved the sale and willing to drive an hr into Jersey w. a borrowed car to close the deal. And that was the great thing about it, the Buyer's Order signed, downpayments and forms prefilled, insurance papers verified, Finance Rate agreed upon ALL via fax, email & phone done thru-out the 3 days at my convenience, only needing to come in to sign a few quick papers in the Finance office and pick up the car. F&I Natalie was also very nice, she was obnoxious and great with our 2 toddlers being there & VERY Patient. She wasnt pushy on options, and tried to be informative though she did withhold tiny bits of info, but she never lied as far i know, after all, she's got a family to feed too, it's her job to try and sell us things we dont need, but not by lying. Again, this was an INTERNET experience, I can't comment on the Staff on the Sales Floor nor in Service. Overall, read up, be educated and sound knowledgeable when buying a car and they're less likely to try tricks with you. I hope their internet dept continues the great job so I can recommend any NY friends of mine to shop there. More
I bought my 2008 Camry at Lawrence and I got a Great Deal! The salesman was very patient and I got a very good deal on my 2008 Camry with the options package included. Sure I got the "you better buy th Deal! The salesman was very patient and I got a very good deal on my 2008 Camry with the options package included. Sure I got the "you better buy this car tonight because it won't be here tomorrow" line but I wanted to car anyway so I didn't care because I planned on buying one that night. Since I've boughten the car I've taken it in for Service (oil changes and such) and the service guys are as nice as can be. I guess with any dealership it all depends on "who" you get that day as to whether you'll have a good experience or not - for me I guess I got the right Salesman :) **One thing to watch out for though - when your doing your financing in the back, keep an eye out for the lady who tries to sell you warranties that you really don't need... Doug possessed every single negative stereotype that a car salesman has. He started out amazingly, until we didn't buy the first car he showed us. He became very RUDE, used pressure tactics, impatient, di car salesman has. He started out amazingly, until we didn't buy the first car he showed us. He became very RUDE, used pressure tactics, impatient, did not listen, and I could tell that he was desperate for a sale the minute we walked in. He pretended to not have a used car inventory list with him, he wanted us to buy a new car and be done with us. He whined and threw a fit when we didn't buy the first thing we saw. He literally drove us around the used cars at a high speed, and had us jump out of the car any time he saw something he thought he could unload on us. I was looking at the Camry, and he took us all over the board "how about this - how about that". He serisouly used every single trick in the book. Luckily, he didn't close us into a sale that day and when we got home we did reasearch on the car we were considering and found out he was witholding informaation about the car so we would buy it. I have new - the interent will tell you anything you want to know! He treated us like we were born yesterday. He actually tried to make me feel bad b/c he spent time with us. It is the nature of his job. His techiniques completely turned me off to Camrys and I will never return to that dealership for sure. He chased us away with his rudeness and arrogance. WOW he was promoted to Scion Manager. If that is what the dealership promotes in treating costumers, then I would receommend no one give them business until they start training salesman to treat their customers with respect, because most of us will come back for another car if we are happy and treated well. If you are looking for a Toyota in the area, check out Freehold. They seem to have an incredible rating. More
