We were happy with the selection and the price but Larry and our experience at Tustin Mazda was very different from the other dealerships we had visited. We were greeted by Kevin Keogh, asked questions, sat in several models, talked about family, and left. No pressure. Just great information about their service and cars. Next day, we met with Robert Nelson to test drive, tour inventory, ask more questions, and we decided-the search ends here at Tustin with Mazda. Our next car was here. Our questions and minor concerns ironed out by experienced and thoughtful people- Kevin, Robert, Tony, & Lori, our deepest gratitude to you. Closing our Mazda experience was a heartfelt welcome and gratitude from the owner, John Patterson- your leadership and care are also demonstrated by your staff. I work in automotive for a living and have seen the xxxx customers experience, from personal and professional experience. But, Tustin Mazda is far from that typical car shopping experience. We actually had a lot of fun while shopping for my 2017 CX5. Yes, we were there for a few hours, but it did NOT feel like it. We stayed busy, everyone there treated us like family, they moved us along quickly in the process and they actually worked the deal for us. The dealership was totally comfortable, everyone was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. We personally worked with the Internet Fleet Manager - Jim Feinstein and the GSM - Jeff Walker, was also hands on. Jim had a lot to do with our wonderful experience and a lot of the positive aspects mentioned previously. Not too long after my purchase Jefferson from the service department contacted me to introduce himself on behalf of the service team and gave me a number to text them for whenever I need service. Most of the people who work there have been there for, 5, 10, 15+ years, which is incredible! As I said above, I work in automotive and dealers typically have a high turnover, every 6 months-1 year. I think a lot of this circles back to the owner, John Patterson. He clearly knows what he's doing, his team obviously loves working for him and in turn I believe that makes for a happier customer experience. More

Great used car buying experience I'd been looking for a used Prius with a sunroof (less common) for a few weeks. The private party cars for sale were all overpriced or had too many m I'd been looking for a used Prius with a sunroof (less common) for a few weeks. The private party cars for sale were all overpriced or had too many miles for my taste, so I started looking at dealer inventory on craigslist. I've purchased a number of cars over the years but avoided dealerships for used cars because the price is normally so much higher. I was surprised when I found what I was looking for a reasonable "red tag" price at Tustin Mazda, so I called to make sure that car was still available. It was so we drive an hour and a half to Tustin to check it out. When we arrived, we quickly found the car and Robert came over to see if we needed any help. Robert was great! Easy going, friendly and let us take as long as we wanted to explore the car. WAY better than the experience I had last week at another dealership. The car drove well and was in good condition so I made an offer. There's always a bunch of paperwork when you buy through a dealership (even if you pay cash) but you also get a car that's been all shinned up for you and all the DMV stuff gets taken care of for you as well. Robert Nelson is the reason I bought the car! I came in on a Saturday night to test-drive a white 2017 Mazda CX-5 Touring. Robert took us out for a spin, and did his best to make sure I drove the I came in on a Saturday night to test-drive a white 2017 Mazda CX-5 Touring. Robert took us out for a spin, and did his best to make sure I drove the model that I wanted, with all the features that I was looking for (Navi, moonroof, Bose speakers, Bluetooth, etc.). He allowed us to spend some time in the car both on the city streets and on the freeway, to really get a feel for how it might drive in a variety of conditions. We even figured out how to link up my iPod, and we had a great time exploring the car's music connectivity, which sounds wonderful with the new AudioPilot feature. I've never had such a fun test drive before! After a long day, Tustin Mazda was our last stop, and my partner and I were exhausted. After the test drive, we asked if we could return on Sunday morning to purchase the vehicle. Unlike other dealership salespeople I had dealt with in the week, Robert was not pushy. He agreed, and it was only BECAUSE he agreed, that we returned to purchase a car from him. We were impressed that he treated us with respect and understanding. We came back on Sunday to fill out paperwork, but Robert found a car for me that had even more features (Preferred Package including Navi) that I was seeking for a reasonable price. I ended up purchasing that vehicle, and returned again on Wednesday to pick up my new car! Robert took his time to show me all of the car's features, and has called me at least once a week since, to check on me and find out how I am enjoying my new car. I am in love with it! Overall, I would definitely return to work with Robert. What set him apart from the other salespeople (and I dealt with quite a few over the past month at Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Kia and Acura) is that he was genuinely interested in providing the best and friendliest service possible. He never patronized, he never condescended, and he never pressured me. I felt that he was truly helping me to find the best economic deal and the best automotive fit for me. Robert made this experience the best car-buying experience I have ever had. More
Auto Sales Diplomacy at its Finest! My parents and I visited Tustin Mazda with a scheduled appointment to meet Shaun McCray, an "ambassador" among sales representatives. From the get-go, My parents and I visited Tustin Mazda with a scheduled appointment to meet Shaun McCray, an "ambassador" among sales representatives. From the get-go, there was a notable air of goodwill, excitement, and enthusiasm, but mixed with just the right amounts of consideration, caution, and most importantly, honesty. Other guests who have not visited Tustin Mazda before may be caught a bit off-guard by his exuberance, but after a few minutes, you can tell from his knowledge of cars, driving, and drivers, that he cares 100% about getting the car to match the driver's preferences, even the ones the driver might not be fully aware of. Before the appointment, I had contacted Shaun through email, text, and a phone call. My initial request for 4 different make/models to test-drive was actually a bit too broad, so he started asking more questions about what I really needed based on my driving situation. By the end of the phone call, he said he probably had just the thing for me. When we showed up on Saturday morning, we walked the lot through several of the models I had mentioned, with him giving reasons on why they didn't quite fit, all of the reasons rock-solid: Mazda6 too big for my needs and a little out of my price range, older Mazda3 not having better MPG, etc. Then we happened upon the one he most wanted me to test-drive: a 2015 Mazda3 s Touring. Earlier in the week, I had test-driven a coworker's 2012 Mazda3 and found the cockpit spacing to be too tight. But the 2015's revised spacing measurements fit like a glove. Taking it out on the road for a test drive, I found it to be very responsive on acceleration, braking, and handling, all while following his instructions, which were neither abrasive nor vague. During the freeway portion of the test drive, the car became quiet as I got more of a feel for it, but that approach to driving conversation is exactly what is needed in such a situation, in my opinion. When we got back to the dealership, we started to paperwork, and Shaun had other appointments with prospective new Mazda owners. But he would check in on our lobby-room table (a nice atmosphere compared to an office desk) while his associate Chance was taking care of us, making sure everything was running smoothly. It was also a pleasant surprise to find that on Saturdays it is de rigueur for Tustin Mazda to provide lunch with hamburgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill! I would also like to note that Spencer's impressive product knowledge, both mechanical AND accounting, was on full display, and there was no question we asked that did not receive a detailed answer. In the Finance Office with Debbie, we also found excellent guest service and product knowledge. I was most impressed by her ability to handle the more stressful sections of the financing conversation, as well as her candor about tangential subjects. It felt like we were getting to know another member of the Tustin Mazda family with little to no effort, and the knowledge she gave helped us to make smart decisions that were not impulsive, but considerate to the life of the car and my future maintenance needs. Once all the paperwork was done, and while the technicians were preparing the car for final release, Shaun came back in to shake our hands and continue talking with us, complete with complementary ice cream from a truck outside. Then the hand-off was made, along with photos and more smiles. Overall, I truly appreciated Shaun's passion for product, his warmth with guests, and his near-eternal smile. I would highly recommend Tustin Mazda, and Shaun McCray, to any driver looking to find a best-fit car from their inventory. Thank you, Shaun and Tustin Mazda! We'll see you again soon. More
