My experience with University Mitsubishi started out good. Marc was a helpful sales representative, though not very knowledgeable of the vehicle we were looking for. A Jeep Wagoneer S. University Mitsub good. Marc was a helpful sales representative, though not very knowledgeable of the vehicle we were looking for. A Jeep Wagoneer S. University Mitsubishi’s practice of low balling the advertised price and then adding on unnecessary extras was not appreciated. Buyers should assume at least $3000 in extra charges above the advertised price, not including tax and registration. That, however is not what is driving the rating. What University Mitsubishi did was beyond the pale. They sold a car with serious safety defects that could have resulted in an accident or loss of life. The vehicle in question was below 10,000 miles and sold as well maintained corporate lease. During the test drive some lights were present on the dash indicating issues with stability control and crash avoidance systems. Before delivery the issue was supposedly resolved, and no lights were on when possession occurred. Shortly after leaving the dealership the lights returned with a message to immediately service the forward crash avoidance, the electronic stability control and lane monitoring systems. I noted that cruise control was also non functioning. This was Saturday late evening so we undertook the 200 mile drive home. Exciting, due to the undercharged battery needing a charge midway. The next business day I took it into the local Jeep dealership to troubleshoot and resolve the issues. After inspection I was told I was driving essentially a stick of dynamite as the vehicle had damage to two tires, the suspension and underbody. The right rear tire had severe damage around 20-30% of its circumference with two large areas down to the steel cords. The right front tire also had a golf ball size chunk out of the sidewall. Both considered to be very dangerous. The right rear wheel was also heavily damaged on the inside. I thank God for getting home alive, no thanks to University Mitsubishi who put profit above my safety. Safety inspection indeed. More
