i called van nuys and scheduled sevice for my 03 gti which i keep having to jump start due to what i assume is a faulty battery or charging system. i am told it should take about 30 minutes so i decide which i keep having to jump start due to what i assume is a faulty battery or charging system. i am told it should take about 30 minutes so i decide i'll do it before work and i bring it in a 7am and tell my work ill be in by 9. right off the bat i'm feeling weird about the shop when they tell me there is a possible $60 diagnostic fee. i've got a 10/100k warranty and the battery is dying on an 11 month old car. $60 my xxx!!! "well we don't know what's causing the battery drain. you might have an aftermarket stereo or something that could void the warranty" i dont have an aftermarket ANYTHING on the car. "well, you might have had it serviced at a place other than a vw dealership". NO, only vw has service the car. it's like i was presumed guilty and having to argue my innocence! very off putting. they made up for it slightly by asking if i'd like a complimentary car wash with my sevice. yes, thank you that would be nice. FOUR HOURS later i'm stilll sitting in the waiting room. so i ask what the xxxx is going on. they can find nothing wrong with the car and they are doing a slow charge on the battery. how long will that take, i ask. probably another 6 hours, they respond! i'm sitting in the xxxxx waiting room waiting for the car and they don't tell me it's gone from 30 minute estimate to 10 hours!!?? furthermore, the mechanic tells me that the "whole front end" (whatever that means) and battery retention strap is loose. and more of the "you know if you brought this car to a non vw shop, you could be responsible for the payment and that it could void the warranty". ENOUGH!!! I HAVE NEVER BROUGHT THE CAR TO ANYBODY BUT VW!!! not that it's done me any good; they've not fixed the things i've asked them to, they've ripped the clutch out of the car, and not tightened up the battery/"whole front end". oh and by the way, van nuys can find nothing wrong with my passenger speaker which has "popped" since mile one (none of the three dealerships i've brought to seem to be able to find anything wrong with it). i take the shuttle home (1 1/2 hour wait for the shuttle) and ride my motorcycle to work. end of the day. it has been on a trickle charge and is holding charge just fine. other than the fact that it had very low voltage (9v) when i brought it in, they determine nothing is wrong with it. i go pick up the car. and not only have they done practically nothing to the car, and dismissed my complaint about the speaker by claiming it was "probably static", and accused me all day of doing things to void the warranty, but THEY NEVER WASHED THE CAR!!<br><br>here's the ringer: 2 days later i find myself once again stuck in a parking lot with a dead batttery!! thanks for NOTHING van nuys More
