I seldom write reviews, however, after reading the one with an experience almost identical to mine, I felt obligated to share what happened at Vandergriff Toyota. We were in the market for a Toyota 4runn with an experience almost identical to mine, I felt obligated to share what happened at Vandergriff Toyota. We were in the market for a Toyota 4runner - called and yes, they said they had exactly what we wanted. We went to the dealership and explained to the salesman who greeted us who we were and what we wanted. The salesman asked for our trade in car keys and walked away. After waiting more than 30 minutes, and asking every other salesman to help, our salesman finally returned. When we asked to see the 4runner, were were told no, they in fact did not have the 4runner we wanted, but could order it - could not even find it in a 5 state area. When we asked for our keys back, the salesman refused to give them to us, said the used car sales department had them. When we insisted on getting our keys back the salesman berated us for using his time and not buying a car, telling us we were nothing less than frauds for pretending to want a new car and then refusing to allow him to order one for us. The salesman walked off and did not return. We sat for at least another 20 minutes until I walked into the employees only area of the sales office and demanded to see the manager - not on duty - and refuse to leave the area until we got our car keys back. Our car was delivered to the front of the building, the person got out of the car, left it running and the door open and walked off, no comment, not looking back. I tried to call the dealership the next day to speak with the manager - he never returned my call. In nearly 50 years of car buying, it was the worst example of salesmanship and customer service I have ever experienced. As a side note, I called a Fort Worth Toyota dealership, was told on the phone they did not have the car in stock, they found one in Oklahoma, asked us to come in to test drive the same vehicle, different options so we would be happy with our purchase, had the used car sales person come to the area to look at the trade in, he did take it for a drive (and I am sure to check it out), returned the keys while we were talking with our salesman, and the dealership called the next day to ask if their cutomer service was adequate and if we had any further questions about the car we wanted to purchase. The difference between experiences is remarkable. I refuse to take our new 4 runner - purchased in Fort Worth - to Arlington for service, even though we are Arlington residents. More

Papers were drawn up with the sales price listed incorrectly. When this was brought to the attention of Vandergriff's employees, no one was willing to own up to the mistake and correct it. I have visited other review sites and feel there is a pattern of behavior at Vandergriff Toyota. Anyone thinking about purchasing a vehicle from them should go to every website possible and read the reviews. Old man Vandergriff, who no longer has anything to do with the dealership, would be very upset to have his name associated with such a dealership. Does he even know that this is occurring? More
We received one of the "pre-approved" mailers and decided to see if they would live up to the "implied" promise. we showed up and we went from affordable to over-prices, but happy because we needed the car. to see if they would live up to the "implied" promise. we showed up and we went from affordable to over-prices, but happy because we needed the car. Now a week and a half later they want $2000.00 (for the bank) or get the car back. We may be taking this up with the Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner. But in the mean time we are having to deal with phone calls and email messages that all same the same thing, "We need $2000 or the car, when can we get them." The answer has always been the same, from when we put the $100 down, their was no other source and the payment are a reach. Be careful should you attempt to deal with anyone at Vandergriff. I want to believe Obi that he is an honest salesman, but I am having my doubts. More
I would like to express my thanks to this dealiship and staff for helping me find the vehicle I was looking for. I was surprised to find that whenever I asked a question or expressed a concern, I wasn't m staff for helping me find the vehicle I was looking for. I was surprised to find that whenever I asked a question or expressed a concern, I wasn't made to feel like I was "bothering" someone and the patience the staff displayed. I've had my share of dealerships and hate to feel like I am not worth waiting on, but never once did I feel that way when dealing w/Vandergriff. I found the car I was looking for and a smile to go along with it!!

Thanks VT for making me feel #1!! More
After shopping at several local dealerships and getting shafted, perhaps because I am a woman, I went to Vandergriff Toyota. I have never had a better experience buying a used car. I bought a Certified P shafted, perhaps because I am a woman, I went to Vandergriff Toyota. I have never had a better experience buying a used car. I bought a Certified Pre-Owned Toyota and I am so pleased! I highly recommend this dealership! I will be there to service my car as well! Thanks for making it so easy, Robert! More
Why does the car-buying experience have to be such a nightmare? The games you have to play just to get a fair price are ridiculous! After being lured in by a newspaper ad stating, "NO REASONABLE OFFER nightmare? The games you have to play just to get a fair price are ridiculous! After being lured in by a newspaper ad stating, "NO REASONABLE OFFER REFUSED!" we did end up getting the car we wanted for the top price we were willing to pay but we had to spend 5 hours doing it. Plus, we had to deal with not one, but two salesmen. What a way to spend a sunday off. Our trade-in car was a '96 saturn and unless something changes in the way car dealerships do business i would imagine our next car will also be a saturn. I just hope the toyota we bought yesterday lasts as long as our trade-in car did because we are certainly in no hurry to deal with car salesmen again. I opted not to name the employees we dealt with because after spending 5 hours at this dealership and observing the other salesmen at work i realized this is just business as usual and these men were just doing their job the way they were expected to.

I do want to add one thing. If my review has not convinced you to go elsewhere please take a look at the many Vandergriff Honda reviews. Believe me, if I'd seen this site yesterday and read those reviews I would have put off shopping til another day and then checked out Metroplex Toyota in Duncanville instead. They have a stellar rating and will probably get our service business.

Also, I think I forgot to mention they took the key to our trade-in car so they could "check it out." I'm not sure they really even looked at it. I know they didn't drive it. When out of frustration after being kept waiting for so long and dealing with double-talk and mind games we asked for our key back so we could go home. They would not give it to us. We felt like we were being held hostage until a deal was made.

If you're wondering why I didn't give a lower rating, I guess it's because even though this was our worst car buying experience so far, and we are 50 years old, so we have bought a few new cars, it probably could have been worse. Needless to say though, we will not be in the market for a new car for a long, long time and we will certainly NOT go back to Vandergriff. More
