My 70'000 miles, 2017 GMC Yukon turned on a check engine on Sunday, Jan 30, 2022 afternoon, and alert about transmission overheating. After parking on the street, the car will not drive not move on forward or reverse. I checked the transmission fluid level, smelled burnt and it was not clear as usual. I towed the car to Vera Cadillac dealership. It took them 3 days to diagnose the transmission. They told me over the phone that the car did not move on forward and reverse, and that the transmission fluid looked burnt. So far nothing that I was not able to tell myself. After prodding the representative over the phone, I was able to obtain a check engine code, which happens to be a very generic one. They quoted me $3000 with an open tab for parts( they couldn't precise how much), or for $10000 for an SRTA rebuild from GM. KBB quotes transmission repairs for my car around $4000 to $5000, no more than that. I got estimates from transmissions workshops and all of them came about $5000 given the worst-case scenario. So I towed again my car out of there, for good and forever. I have been doing in the past all my scheduled maintenance in that dealership, but I will never go back there for anything. More

Always helpful in understanding what I need and suggesting the best answer. For example I came in for a brake check with 32,400 miles.
