I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I believe reviews are one of the best ways to provide honest feedback. It’s much easier for businesses to hear constructive criticism through a review than in reviews are one of the best ways to provide honest feedback. It’s much easier for businesses to hear constructive criticism through a review than in a face-to-face conversation where concerns can sometimes be dismissed or avoided. I began the purchase process on a Saturday. I understood that I wasn’t expecting miracles over the weekend, but everything initially went very smoothly. I completed a credit application, was approved for the vehicle, and placed a deposit. The process was simple, straightforward, and gave me confidence in the dealership. We also discussed trading in our vehicle, but unfortunately the offer was lower than expected. That wasn’t an issue—we sold it privately the following Monday. Since our insurance company required another vehicle before removing the old one from our policy, we transferred our insurance to the truck we were in the process of purchasing so we could easily transfer our registration. At the time, I had no reason to believe it would take a week and a half before we actually took possession of the truck. As a family of five with full-time jobs, daycare, and youth sports, being reduced to one vehicle put us in a very difficult situation. Initially, communication was excellent. However, after the paperwork was completed and the deposit was made, communication became increasingly limited. I was informed that the truck needed a few repairs before it could be sold, which I appreciated. I would much rather those issues be addressed before delivery. Unfortunately, the explanations were vague and updates became almost nonexistent. On Monday I was told the repairs were underway. Tuesday and Wednesday brought little more than, “It’s still being worked on.” When I asked for additional details, I was eventually told there was a stored temperature sensor code preventing the vehicle from passing inspection. I wasn’t given much explanation as to why a stored, rather than active, code was preventing the inspection. Every update seemed to be, “I’m waiting on service,” or, “I don’t have any updates.” As a customer, that left me feeling brushed aside rather than informed. Eventually, because of the lack of communication, we drove a considerable distance to the dealership to speak with someone in person. At that point we were again told they hoped to have it completed that day but it still would not pass inspection. We were even encouraged to take it for a long drive. During that drive, we inspected the truck ourselves because we had been told that wear items below 50% would be replaced prior to sale. We found the engine air filter to be approximately 20% remaining and the fuel filter around 30%, neither of which had been addressed or discussed. I was also told the rear brakes had been replaced. They had not. During the test drive, the brakes squealed loudly. When I brought this to the dealership’s attention, I was told they would investigate, but later they claimed they couldn’t duplicate the concern. Although we left that day without our truck, I do want to acknowledge that the dealership provided us with a loaner vehicle, which was appreciated and helped lessen the inconvenience. Unfortunately, my concerns didn’t end there. Today I removed the rear brakes myself because the squealing persisted. The brake pads were severely glazed—I could literally see my reflection in them. Considering I was told the truck had completed a 170-point inspection, I am left questioning how thoroughly that inspection was actually performed. After replacing the brake pads at my own expense, the dashboard illuminated with multiple warning lights. I now have to take the truck to Chevrolet to have the brake system monitors reset because this process was apparently never completed. I am now out over $100 in brake parts, will once again be without a vehicle while it is repaired, and have lost confidence in the quality of the inspection that was performed. ran out of space More
