Further, Fran showed great depth in understanding today's buying approach to new cars (the internet) and the demographic I represent. It was a true pleasure to have solid, straightforward interactions as opposed to some kid trying to push price haggling with me. We quickly settled the deal I was after and then Fran went out and found my exact car in 1 day! Next, and much to my happy surprise The folks at Cook came through a second time with financing that topped my credit union making the total cost of the car even less. We spent the afternoon test driving cars with sales rep melissa Cole, she was fantastic. She knew everything there is to know about vw and she negotiated a great deal that we were happy with.  She closed t melissa Cole, she was fantastic. She knew everything there is to know about vw and she negotiated a great deal that we were happy with.  She closed the deal and wrote up the paperwork which was handed to her boss, rich, who entered it into the computer. We then waited an hour for the finance rep Lenny.  When we finally got in to see him he was rude, unshaven and disturbed about having to stay late on a Saturday. We didn't want any of the extended coverage or paint sealer that he was pushing so he looked at us with a scowl and said "hey aren't you going to buy anything extra, that's how I make my money and I got to eat ya know".  He then slid the finance paperwork across the desk. He didn't offer us any options or even tell me what the interest rate was he just asked me if I live I or went to church in harford county because the bank that he wants to use required it, when i said that i didn't he said well you could go to church there someday, thats good enough.  I have a credit score over 800 so I should have some choices in this department.  When I looked at the numbers I noticed that the price of the car was $300 more then we negotiated and the trade value was $500 less.  When I questioned it, lenny grabbed  the paperwork, groaned and left the room.  rich the sales manager returned and said that our sales rep must have misunderstood him because he was loosing too much money on the deal.  Rich knowingly put different numbers in the computer than what was on the signed term sheet and did not come and talk to us about it, he just hoped we wouldn't notice!  Lenny even turned his computer around and showed us the amount they were losing on the deal and any more lose would result in them getting fired on monday morning.  Rich stood in front of us and would not honor the deal that we negotiated and he supposedly approved behind the "curtain".  He said he had to stop the bleeding an he needed the extra $500.  It is this slimy, underhanded behavior that gives car dealers the reputation that they deserve.  Needless to say we walked out.  Melissa met us in the lot and put our plates back on our trade in.  She was very apologetic and professional even after her boss blew her deal.  Melissa is the best thing at cook, if they where smart they would make her the sales manager and get rid of the crooks at cook!  More
