When I decided to take advantage of the diesel buyback program, it made sense to begin shopping for a new car there. Today, of course, prospective buyers can position themselves reasonably well by accessing the many internet buying sites to obtain local prices for just about any car make and model, as long as one is willing to put up with the flood of email responses from competing dealers. After evaluating a variety of possibilites from other manufacturers, I decided to focus on a gasoline version of the Golf (a GTI), even though VW, the company, had not been an honest broker to millions of diesel owners worldwide. Suffice it to say, however, the VW Golf gasoline version is an excellent automobile for the price, its emissions satisfy EPA regulations and the diesel buyback program was reasonable. In light of this, the Wellesley folks, Ray Hovsepian, Marc Shoenhammer and Mike Ahern worked with me to obtain the GTI of my choice at a very competitive price. In the end they were able to offer me an extremely competitive lease which better suited my needs. In summary, their knowledge of the car and market combined with their low pressure, straight-talk and good nature, fairness and senses of humor made it a pleasure to do business with Wellesley VW. You'd think we'd be upset with Volkswagen, since we had two diesels under the diesel emissions bit, but Wellesley Volkswagen gave us a great deal and has been a pleasure to deal with the whole way through. Reviews of recent buyer experiences lead me to Wellesley VW and Jens Albrecht. Jens was refreshingly knowledgeable about all aspects of the brand and in particular, the GTI that I was interested in. He was totally low key and exerted no pressure on me for the purchase. Wellesley VW was able to match very competitive pricing and followed through on all details necessary for the purchase and with assisting me registering my new car in NH. Jens provided easy-to-understand explanations of the many features on the GTI. My GTI SE, is an absolutely wonderful car to drive. It is great on the highway, easy in traffic, and a blast on a twisty back road. Out of the box, it is getting 36 MPG on the highway, and it is also a fun and very practical car. I shopped around other brands and saw some seriously terrible sales tactics (it's 2017, taking my keys and registration to stop me from leaving may have worked in the 70's but now it's ridiculously antiquated, I'm looking at you jeep) and some uninteresting offerings. While dropping off my mother's VW for its ~10k inspection, I got to talking to Jens, one of the sales people at VW of Wellesley. He was calm and knew the product backwards and forwards. Over the course of months he sent me updates on any offerings and status of the diesel lawsuit. He kept me informed without being pushy. When I got a number from VW on how much they would be paying me for my old TDI, I came to Jens and we managed to make a sale. I would absolutely recommend Jens. More
