I have been coming to this dealership since it opened in 2018. The service has been phenomenal. I’ve worked with Steve who has been promoted to management. I always make sure I say hi to him. There is no option to rate zero stars, so I’m leaving one. We came to test drive a Honda Civic for our son and worked with Eric. I let him know that we were already approved through our bank, USAA, and he let me know they don’t work with USAA because it takes 10 days for them to receive funding. He also stated that he doesn’t know of many dealers in the Twin Cities that will take USAA because of this. That didn’t sound right to me based off all of the other car purchases we have made with USAA, but I dismissed it for the time being because we liked the car and wanted to test drive it. I figured we could talk about the finance piece afterwards, as my husband was meeting us at the dealership to (hopefully) make a purchase. Test drive went well and we went back to talk about financing. My husband arrived and asked if it was accurate that they don’t take funding from USAA. Eric doubled down and said they don’t and went on to explain that he thinks it’s because they cut staffing during the pandemic and never recovered…we walked away from the sale at that point, if they don’t want to accept money or work with veterans, we figured that’s fine, there are other dealers that will. Eric apologized and said it’s a management decision and not up to him. We were outside and he came out after us (I don’t know why, maybe to try to explain himself further) and my husband explained again, there’s really nothing to discuss, they don’t take USAA and in turn, don’t work with many veterans that may use USAA, and that’s their choice, so no need for us to conduct any business there. Eric again mentioned it was a management decision and all his family are veterans. We went to Walser Mazda in Burnsville the same day and bought a very nice Honda Civic there. No issues using USAA and drove off with the car that night, with the funds being electronically transferred from USAA. We also looked at a car at Apple Ford in Shakopee and they also work with USAA. All that to say - we certainly don’t mind if dealers don’t work with certain lenders and understand if there are legitimate reasons for that. What is unfortunate is when it seems to be used as a sales tactic and blatant lies are told. And turning away veterans that want to give you their business. So if Eric or management reads this, hopefully going forward he can let people know they just don’t want to work with USAA instead of giving out inaccurate information. And if it is truly management at this dealership that have made that decision, shame on them. More
