"Old-Fashioned" Service - Great Job! I was very pleasantly surprised with the service recently provided at Schmitt's. This is my first leased car, and they have been very helpful and courteous every step of the way and have answered any and all of my questions. All of the staff have been very friendly, going out of their way to make me feel like a valued customer. From the time I phoned to make an appointment, speaking to a very friendly clerk, to the short time I spent in their comfortable customer lounge area, and complimentary car wash, I felt very welcomed and part of the "Schmitt's VW family". The staff was actually happy to see me and thanked me for my patronage! That made me feel very good about my lease and my relationship with them, and it reminded me of the kind of 'throw-back' service that you used to get - when businesses cared about you and the customer came first...! THANK YOU for treating me like you really cared! More
Very quick service I have purchased 3 cars from Schmitt's. I used to take my car to someone very local for diagnostic work and repairs but started taking them to Schmitt I have purchased 3 cars from Schmitt's. I'm always able to get my car in quickly, and am confident that any work is done correctly. I highly recommend this dealership for both sales and service. More

Pretty great service! I went to Schmitts to lease my first car and it was a great experience. They were very helpful and got me a great deal. I've used the service center only for my inspection and it was very quick and simple. It's nice to receive an estimated wait time and have it actually be accurate. Great place! More

The snacks and drinks are a nice touch and come in quite handy. It was also very appreciated that a loaner car was granted to me at no cost (excluding fuel usage) during the repair process. This dealership has handled all of my warranty work and also a repair which was not warranty covered. I'm a Canadian resident with a US model VW and drive 2 hours one way to reach this dealership. If I didn't feel I was receiving the proper customer service I wouldn't continue to return to this dealership. More
Poor Experience - Would Not Recommend You will notice that most of the positive reviews for this dealer on many websites come from folks who were fortunate enough to not have to any post-s You will notice that most of the positive reviews for this dealer on many websites come from folks who were fortunate enough to not have to any post-sale issues with their cars, and had no reason to return prior to their first oil change. You will also notice how Schmitt's mostly responds only to the positive reviews. The staff at Schmitt's sure are nice - until you sign on the dotted line and take delivery. After that point, the masks come off. If you bring your vehicle back for anything other than scheduled maintenance, or have any concerns about your vehicle be prepared to be treated with a contempt, arrogant, holier-than-thou attitude. Also, be prepared to get blamed for whatever the problem is. Sales and service will both spend more time deflecting and trying to explain why they aren't responsible for problems instead of taking the effort to actually fix them. Service "manager" Tony in particular seems to have some serious anger issues. This likely stems from his frustration at being completely incompetent in his position, as numerous other reviews online I've read have singled him out for inadequate performance as well. The poor attitude at this dealer though extends well beyond the service department; it stems from the pompous management down to all the departments equally. Volkswagen makes a fantastic product and I will continue to support the brand, but I will avoid Schmitt's from now on like the plague. There are several other great VW dealers in the area who will actually stand behind the product whether or not they sold it. They also don't treat their customers with such obvious and utter contempt. More
Dropped the Ball at Every Step I have my second VW from Schmitts. I knew it was a mistake to get another one from Schmitt's but I did it against my better judgement when I was told I have my second VW from Schmitts. I knew it was a mistake to get another one from Schmitt's but I did it against my better judgement when I was told there the dealer no longer provided routine maintenance, which I had to pay extra for. My 2016 Tiguan was picked up in May. I worked with Steve, who sold me the car, and Shawn, who financed it. Essentially every aspect of the transaction was screwed up. I arrived to complete the sale, leave my 2013 Tiguan and pick up the 2016. First, I was given the wrong paperwork to sign, so I had to redo everything. I even asked if it was wrong because the price of the car and the payment was wrong on the paperwork, but Steve said it was OK. It wasn't. When I dropped off the car, I asked if they inspected it and if it was OK from a lease perspective. I was about 6 months early on my lease and had received a letter saying the car needed to be inspected, so I made sure I asked. Steve said it's OK, we send it back to VW. What he didn't say is that the dealer doesn't actually inspect it. That doesn't happen until it goes back to VW if you don't have it done prior to taking it back. As a result I received a huge bill 5 MONTHS LATER (seriously, it took that long to look at the car?). I called Shawn asking what was going on, that Steve said the car was OK and essentially he told me the dealer had nothing to do with that. It was out of their hands and I could call VW if I wanted. So, no help or accountability there. The bill from VW included replacing two tires on the right side of the car. The dealer had known there was something wrong on the right side of the car since the first inspection one year into a three year lease. The service dept. decided not to do anything about it and said they'd "watch it." Yeah, they watched it so well they decided to charge me hundreds of dollars for their decision not to fix what would have been a complicated problem. Then 6 months after the transaction I get a call that they screwed up the title and needed it back ASAP. You can imagine I did not rush. The dealer forgot to include the lien on the title so it had to be corrected with NY State. I sent it back more than a month ago and I still do not have the replacement. How long has this company been selling cars? To add insult to injury, the check engine light went on less than 24 hours after I picked up the car and it had to be taken back to the dealer. This was a ridiculous and horrible experience. It was clear that Steve and Shawn's only objective was to get a car off the lot. More
