Last Monday afternoon I called the Service Department at Wilde Honda and ended getting my call routed to voicemail. I left a message and received a callback for the Service Manager, "Honda John" within the Wilde Honda and ended getting my call routed to voicemail. I left a message and received a callback for the Service Manager, "Honda John" within the hour. I was impressed! I explained to John that my 2013 CRV (153000 miles) was beginning to make a combined "howling/thumping" sound while driving. John suggested that there are several possibilities that could be the cause but rather than doing an over the phone diagnosis, he offered to have me meet him first thing Tuesday morning and we'd take it on the road together. I accepted his offer and met him first thing in the morning. After the test, he told me the good news is I don't need new wheel bearings. He thought that I might be able to cut some of the noise with a change of my differential oil. ( I have had that done regularly but this would be a change that would be done a little early. He also said that he thought my tires (about 50% worn) were starting to harden and beginning to "cup". He said that none of these issues posed a safety problem while driving. I had the differential oil changed and it did help improve the "howl" some. I decided to keep an eye on the tires for a while. My main reason for writing this review is to note that throughout my experience with John , he was totally focused on helping me solve my problem. He honestly made me feel like I was his only customer for that day (and we all know that wasn't the case!). Before Tuesday, I had never met John. I found him to be a very knowledgeable and professional service manage. At no time did he try to "up sell me" into getting service that I didn't need. He was just trying to help me solve my problem. As we do not enjoy the idea of shopping for a used car, we were pleasantly surprised as Chandler T was not what we expected- in the best way possible! He let us take our time looking around and even after we were pleasantly surprised as Chandler T was not what we expected- in the best way possible! I just finished dealing with Max. I put in an inquiry on a Honda Ridgeline Black Edition last night and was told it's in stock. Max called me at 9:05 am and we confirmed the truck was I put in an inquiry on a Honda Ridgeline Black Edition last night and was told it's in stock. Max called me at 9:05 am and we confirmed the truck was available. I mentioned that I had a pending trade offer on my car here in Madison and it's 24k (a 2019 Subaru Impreza Elite with about 21k miles). Max assured me that they'd come close to that price on a trade. Max said he'd confirm details and text me later and follow up before I headed to the dealership at about 3:30pm. He never did. When I finally called, he said everything was in order and the truck was still available. I headed over, title in hand and ready to do a deal. The offer I got on the Impreza was 22k (which is actually worse than the offer I got from Wilde East Town, which was at least a little surprising). Max's reasoning was this: he said Wilde's Subaru dealership had a 2019 Impreza Limited on the lot for 24.9k (heads up: it's 27.8k for their limited with almost the same mileage) and couldn't move it at that price, so the offer was firm at 22k. None of this was mentioned over the phone, and so I spent 20 minutes in the dealership and drove for about 3 hours to be given the ol' bait and switch when I showed up. At least be honest about what's feasible. And if your salesmen are going to lie, don't make it so obvious. More
