Wondries Toyota - Service Center

Recently I brought my 2020 Toyota Camry XSE V6 in after it wouldn't start due to a bad and corroded negative battery terminal. AAA jump started me and I drove the car right in to Wondries. During the service write up, before looking at the problem, it seemed to me that Di Wu wanted to sell me a new battery on my 3 year old car. That raised my suspicion. I asked that my old parts be returned. The next call from Di Wu was that I would need a new battery terminal and that the battery terminal was so corroded to the battery that the mechanic couldn't safely remove it. I gladly approved this and told him to leave the terminal on, that I would attempt removal when I got the old battery home. The next call was that I would have to agree to pay $20 for the battery core that was normally returned for recycling. I gladly approved this. Di Wu said that they tested the battery and that it needed replacement. When the parts were returned, I removed the battery terminal in about 5 minutes with a pair of common diagonal pliers. The battery post didn't seem very corroded, but the terminal sure was. I slow charged the battery from 75% to 100% in a few hours. It seemed in order. And I'm not a mechanic. After all was said and done, I suspected that either (1) the battery didn't really need replacement, or (2) the mechanic wasn't astute enough to simply remove the corroded terminal, replace it, test if the new terminal mated to the post and then replace the battery if warranted. In the condition that I received the old battery, the negative terminal did not appear cleaned. If not cleaned, I couldn't see how a comprehensive battery test could have been done. But the old battery post sure seemed in good enough condition to hold a new terminal. But for me, it wasn't the extra $250 for the battery that I suspect was replaced prematurely, it was that I felt that the opaque system in place seemed to put dollars ahead of service. My usual mechanic doesn't do this. When I need a new car, I'll return to any dealer with the best price. For parts, sure. But for service -- no. If I need a dealer, I'll try another next time. More

2.5 hours for an oil change with an appointment is unacceptable. They take walk-ins in front of appointments. First come first serve is xxxxxxxx. The service advisors print 2 pieces of paper for signatures and just sit there searching the internet like they are busy or joking around with each other. Isaac Perez is horrible at customer service. I would give 0 stars if I could. More
