We took our 2006 Nissan in for an oil change as we have... - Amaria V
We took our 2006 Nissan in for an oil change as we have been doing for years and requested an alignment at the same time. The oil change was actually completed quickly and to our satisfaction, however, they refused to do the alignment and instead told us that we needed new tie rod ends on all four of the areas that one could have them replaced to the tune of $1000 for parts and service. The saleswoman was very insistent about it and even told us the story of a friend of hers whose just went out while driving and how dangerous it was. We felt suspicious as it seemed odd that all four tie rods would fail at the same time. We immediately took our car to have the tires rotated and asked them to do an alignment. They said to rotate the tires first and then drive it for awhile to see if we felt it still needed aligned. They noted no problems with our car and when specifically asked said the tie rods were absolutely fine. Not satisfied with a second opinion, we took are car to the local mechanic we usually use and asked again to have the alignment done. He also checked the suspension etc. to make sure there were no problems prior to aligning the car. He also stated there were no problems with the tie rods and actually did the alignment for our car. I am very unhappy with the fact that expensive and unnecessary repairs were pushed at us and will not be returning to Dave Smith for an oil change again.
