When my car was ready they delivered it to my home. Very happy with their work and the results. ————————————— This rating only pertains to the sales process for a pre-owned CX-5 at this dealership not to service there. I use a more local Mazda location for service. BUYER BEWARE!! My low rating pertains to 2 issues, both are ultimately related to the sales price. 1. They install the Pulse rear brake light system on the cars as standard procedure. The sales person explained how the center brake light flashes when the brakes are applied. When reviewing the itemized sales numbers there was an odd "out of state" fee. I was focused on what this fee was about (which the sales person told me shouldn't have been included) and didn't notice that right under the "out of state" fee they'd also added a $400 fee for including the dealer-installed Pulse system. I wasn't opposed to the system but felt the way it was automatically included was sneaky. I bet a lot of people don't realize this extra $400 is included in the final price. I had them remove the system and delete the cost from the sales price. To be clear they removed it without any hassle but it caused me to look at every item on the cost sheet 2-3 times to make sure there wasn't something else included that shouldn't have been. 2. The car is a beautiful dark blue that was from a lease. It had no accidents, very low miles on it, and had many of the features I wanted. It was also priced toward the upper end of the range for the local market which I attributed to the low mileage. It was hard to get a good look at the outside because there was roadwork right by their location and the car was covered with construction dust and dirt. I checked it as best as I could. The sales person offered to wash it before my test drive which I agreed to. Then I saw their on-site car wash: spinning brushes for the sides and hanging strips that slap back and forth across the hood and roof. I said no thanks. I detail my cars and am well aware what those automatic car wash scrubbers do to car's finishes. On the interior I noted some things that their detailer had skipped or only done halfway. One example: glitter in the perforations of the back seat which really stands out against the black leather. Fast forward to the end. I decided to buy the car and the dealer agreed to hand wash the car and address the interior detailing issues I'd pointed out so I could pick it up the following day. It is likely they washed it that same afternoon (can't say if they really did it by hand or ran it through the car wash after all) because they must have parked it outside overnight. It was covered in road dust and water spots because it rained during the night. The only part that looked cleaner than the previous day were the wheels. The interior detailing issues had not been addressed either. My schedule that day didn't allow me to go back inside and have them address the appearance issues before I drove it off the lot. My plan was to do my own detailing after getting it home. In the course of cleaning up the car I've found one of the rear quarter panels was repainted and is rough near the fuel filler cover. I also found a crack in one of the front fenders. So do I feel the car was priced properly? I did until I found these issues after washing it. Now I'd say it should have been at least $1000 less but even then I wouldn't have bought it as it makes me wonder what else is wrong with the car that I just haven't discovered yet. I also learned a lesson. I should have risked a single run through an automatic wash so I could see the paint and condition clearly before agreeing to buy it. Earlier that day I walked away from a different dealer due to a poor repaint job on a freshly washed 2024 model. Never again! More
