A horrid Mercedes customer service event landed me at BMW of West St. Louis. Four cars in three years was not just because of the product, but more importantly to me, the customer service. My husband and I traded in our Miata for a used Macan at the dealership, and I have never experienced worse customer service than I have had with Brent Straub. As long as Brent is employed at BMW of West S the dealership, and I have never experienced worse customer service than I have had with Brent Straub. As long as Brent is employed at BMW of West St Louis, I guarantee you’ll have better experience buying a car sight unseen off Craigslist than working with him. Our car has a branded title; we worked with Malik Johnson and were transparent the entire time regarding the branded title, and said repeatedly that we weren’t expecting much for a trade-in. Malik said he received approval for an offer we were happy with, and we proceeded with the trade-in. Steve Toppins (Business Manager) drafted the contract, we signed the paperwork. Brent calls me 4 days later, aggressively demanding for me to come back in, saying the contract wasn’t valid. Kept insisting that we provided a VIN to a car that we didn’t own, and insinuated that I effectively stole a car from him. After asking him several times, he reluctantly admits that the VIN on the contract was wrong, but the VIN on the title matched the VIN on the car. The error was in the contract, but Brent claims it was our fault for providing the wrong VIN, and says they had no idea it was a branded title. The VIN on the contract was for the same year, make, and model, but with a clean title. We told Malik multiple times about the branded title. Steve wrote the contract, Steve inputted all amounts and the VIN. We never provided a VIN. The dealership literally had physical custody of our car. We provided the title on the same day of purchase - it has the word “SALVAGE” across the entire document. I cannot fathom how Brent claims we tried to pull a fast one on them. They shook us down for $2,500 more to proceed with and finalize the trade-in. I should have walked away after our first visit. We scheduled a 6PM test drive with Brent the previous day. Upon arriving, Malik informed us that not only did Brent leave early, he took the car home with him. We had to come back next morning to actually see the car and “purchase” it. After leaving with the Macan on the second day, Brent asked us to come back that same evening to return some personal items he left in the car. What a waste of time. Brent also denies driving the car more than a mile away from the dealership. Brent, your phone was programmed into the car. You had personal items stored in the car. Your last destination in IL was the sole entry still in the GPS. On the day of the initial “purchase” multiple employees came over to congratulate us on our purchase. They all acknowledged that the dealership has had a poor reputation historically, and that Craig had renamed the dealership in an attempt to shake off the bad rep. However, actions speak louder than words. The stereotype of dishonest car salesmen with shady tactics? Pretty sure the stereotype was founded on people’s interactions with Brent and Steve. When we went back the third time for them to stick their grubby little hands into our wallet, Steve admitted fault, then proceeded to lay the blame on Malik being new. I have had only positive interactions with Malik. As a business manager tasked with drafting the contract, isn’t it your responsibility to ensure all entries are accurate? Never in a million years would I expect you to get the VIN wrong. In every plausible scenario that could created this chain of events, the fault lies with someone at the dealership. Malik, perhaps, for writing the VIN inaccurately from the car’s dash. Steve, for entering a VIN inaccurately generated from their system. Despite them admitting fault, they still demanded more money ($2,500) to actually finalize the trade-in. I’d rather set another $2,500 on fire than deal with Brent or Steve again. More

Shady practice Seems BMW on FB blocked me for telling buyers to beware! They are great at selling you a car but not following through with promises. That poor chec Seems BMW on FB blocked me for telling buyers to beware! They are great at selling you a car but not following through with promises. That poor check you “sent” must be to the wrong address? I’ve been dealing with their promises since the beginning of Aug! Don’t let their FB page or the reviews here fool you. They removed all the negative things on FB and I don’t see my review on here either. Buyer Beware! Oh and don’t buy the insurance and pay it all up front, even though they say you can cancel it at any time, they still haven’t given us our money back. Which isn’t saying anything good about such a high end company!! More

Administrative fee untruths Brent Straub, General Manager, after advertising a used car price, then attempted to add on a fee to "write up the paperwork" labeling it administrati Brent Straub, General Manager, after advertising a used car price, then attempted to add on a fee to "write up the paperwork" labeling it administration. When I refused to be charged more than the advertised price I was met with disdain. BMW of West St. Louis's own sales contract states "an administrative fee is not an official fee and is not required by law"....."this administrative fee may result in a profit to dealer" ……"no portion of this administrative fee is for the drafting, preparation, or completion of documents..." The G.M. became frustrated when he couldn't treat me like "Boo Boo the Fool" and lost a sale in hand. Worst car buying experience ever! More
