While I’m happy with the vehicle I purchased from Corwin Toyota, I was disappointed with several aspects of the sales, financing, trade-in, and delivery experience. When I signed the paperwork and placed Toyota, I was disappointed with several aspects of the sales, financing, trade-in, and delivery experience. When I signed the paperwork and placed my deposit, the vehicle had 4,833 miles, which was also reflected on the odometer disclosure. When I returned five days later to take delivery, it had 4,960 miles—127 additional miles. I asked for an explanation but was never given a clear answer as to why the vehicle had been driven that much after the paperwork was signed. The vehicle was also not detailed or topped off with gas when I arrived to pick it up, which was surprising considering the purchase price and the fact that the dealership had five days to prepare it. After I raised my concerns, they did provide a complimentary detail, which I appreciated. I was also disappointed with the communication surrounding the extended warranty and windshield protection. During the transition from the salesperson to financing, it was not clear to me that these optional products were being factored into the monthly payment. Even the lowest extended-warranty option combined with the windshield protection added approximately $8,300 to the purchase. I ultimately had those products removed, but I believe optional products of that cost should be presented very clearly in terms of both their total price and their effect on the amount financed, rather than primarily being discussed in terms of a monthly payment. I was also disappointed with the trade-in offer on my truck. After doing additional research and receiving another dealer appraisal, I realized my truck could command a stronger trade value than what I received from Corwin. I understand dealerships need to make money on trades, but I would encourage anyone trading in a vehicle to obtain multiple appraisals beforehand so they have a good understanding of its market value. Overall, I really like my vehicle, but the purchasing experience lacked the transparency, communication, preparation, and attention to detail I would expect when making a purchase of this size. I hope Corwin takes feedback like this seriously and uses it to improve the experience for future customers. More
