My 2020 Platinum Highlander had warning lights go off as I was traveling to Ohio for a funeral. Metro Toyota was the closest dealership. I have extended coverage on the vehicle and he told me that I would need to pay the diagnostic charge if it wasn’t deemed to be covered by the warranty. Then I’m informed that the dealership doesn’t have loaner vehicles but I can rent a car which would not be covered under the warranty. After the diagnostic check is done it turns out that a part is faulty however they don’t have it and can’t get it for 3-4 days. He said that I could drive it back to the Chicago land area; I should just watch the temperature gauge. I asked if he was able to send the information onto my dealership in IL and he said no. He didn’t bother to tell me that all Toyota Dealerships share the same system so my agent would be able to see what the diagnostic test showed. For having owned multiple Toyota vehicles since 1990 I was appalled at the lack of customer service at this dealership. How does a dealership not have any loaner vehicles and why is the customer expected to know that the dealerships share information. If this were my first experience with Toyota I would never purchase another Toyota. More
