I usually don’t make reviews, good or bad. A place has to really good or be really bad for me to write one. This place/Eastside Subaru is really dishonest and really bad!! I took my 2004 S A place has to really good or be really bad for me to write one. This place/Eastside Subaru is really dishonest and really bad!! I took my 2004 Subaru Baja to Eastside Subaru in August of this year. I had a problem with the timing—the engine code said P0011. I looked it up and it is not an easy fix. I was ripped off by a guy here in Southern Oregon who charged me but did not fix the problem. I had a few people tell me they didn’t know how to fix it but they did not charge me & I appreciate that kind of honesty.—So I made an appointment at Eastside Subaru (where the car was originally bought in 2004) and drove up. Once there, they seemed to have trouble finding the problem. They also seemed swamped with business and I felt like I was being put on the back burner!! After more than a week, I was told the car had little things wrong—missing screws and clogged tubes but no mention of the timing problem. I did want the “small stuff fixed” & asked Ethen not go over $1,500 for the small stuff or I would need to take out a loan! He agreed. I still called many times and mentioned the P0011 or the timing issue that I brought it up for but they would only evade the subject, telling me again there was only 1 person in their shop who could work on this car. After 2 weeks they told me they they found a missing/bad part? (They couldn’t tell me what it was) And it could take awhile to get it in. They informed me to take the loaner car and just go, until the car was done. When I finally picked up my car after a month!!! The problem was still there!!!!. I took it back twice!! On the 2nd time, Ethen said “lets go for a test drive” , right away he said “doesn’t it run wonderfully” ( & I am thinking, what???) I showed him the how the RPM’s were flying all over the place from 2 to 4 back down to 1. The car was also lurching forward before it grabbed on and the problem was still totally there. Ethen tried to talk me out of the problem—saying “thats the turbo.” This place, Eastside Subaru, did not have the decency to tell me they couldn’t fix it the problem. Only now, they wanted 4,500 for god knows what? What I really think is they charged me for was the time spent with the loaner car which I had for a month—a car which I couldn’t stand. Also because they had my car for so long, it mean’t I was dealing with two different people, Nathan 1/2 the week and Ethen the other 1/2. The personalities of both my service advisors was kind and caring--but that's partly what fooled me into thinking that they had my interests, not there's at heart!. When I picked up the car and came back twice saying it wasn’t fixed—at some point I showed the paperwork of the previous work on the car to Nathan and he said “wow, they got you coming (with $5000 worth of work) but “we got you going” with ($4500 worth of xxxxxxxx work) And that was a true statement! Finally some honesty! Now I am stuck with a car, that has the exact same problem (P0011) but now I owe the bank $4000 which I borrowed to fix the car that Eastside Subaru never fixed. But now I don’t have the funds to fix it!! I would never recommend this place because of the lies they kept telling me but especially if you have a Subaru that older than 2010 because they don’t have anyone that can fix your car there and won’t tell you this detail!!! I recently visited Eastside Subaru when the check engine light came on in my 2020 Forester. Despite not having a prior appointment, I was promptly assisted by service advisor Oakly, who was professional and light came on in my 2020 Forester. Despite not having a prior appointment, I was promptly assisted by service advisor Oakly, who was professional and thorough in explaining the process and setting clear expectations for the repair timeline. The issue was traced to the TCV, a recalled part from Subaru. Eastside Subaru handled the repair at no cost and managed the recall directly, saving me the effort of contacting Subaru myself. Overall, the experience was seamless and hassle-free. I appreciate the transparency and professionalism shown throughout the service. More
