We purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn from Lakeside Chevrolet and were told it had been inspected and was in good condition. Within just a few days, our mechanic diagnosed a serious pre-existing camsha Chevrolet and were told it had been inspected and was in good condition. Within just a few days, our mechanic diagnosed a serious pre-existing camshaft issue. This is not something that develops in a few days and should have been caught before selling the truck. When we first reported the issue, we were told the truck was sold “as is” and there was nothing they could do. Only after we explained the seriousness did they mention bringing it four hours back to their shop, something our mechanic advised against because driving it that far risked further engine damage. We were without the truck for a week getting it repaired locally. The dealership later told the Attorney General we declined help, but the offer to “inspect it” came long after the initial refusal and after the severity of the repair was already known. We also corrected the dealer’s inaccurate claim about the repair estimate. This entire experience has been disappointing, and we would caution others to be very careful when buying a used vehicle here. More
