I informed Abner, who told his boss (I believe James Ramos) that I was already pre-approved through my credit union and they were a FastTrack dealer. We all knew the car could not be purchased during this visit. I was told my personal information was only to "confirm with the credit union that I was pre-approved" and that they were not processing a hard credit pull. I agreed to that and reiterated that I did not consent to a credit pull...well, it was pulled. While I sat there, my credit monitoring service texted me that Puente Hills Fords had just processed the inquiry. The next day, it turned out that the car did not pass inspection and could not be sold. Fine, these things happen, so I walked away and had an inquiry on my credit report to remember this experience. A week later, I was about to purchase a from a different dealer, but they could not process my CU preapproval because Puente Hills Ford had tied up my application through the CUDL system and it was locked.
