Flat Out of Nowhere My family and I were traveling from Colorado to North Carolina. We had an unexpected flat on I-70 East. We had purchased the tires only 4 months ago. In a Diesel Pickle! In July 2017 my family and I were on our way from Denver to Branson for a family reunion. With four young children, a fully-loaded 29' travel trailer In July 2017 my family and I were on our way from Denver to Branson for a family reunion. With four young children, a fully-loaded 29' travel trailer in tow and my 70+ year old parents following us, my 2015 Duramax suddenly lost power. It was around 1:00pm and the temperature on I-70 was 104 degrees. I hopped on my phone right away and luckily we were just a few miles from Abilene. I called Holm Automotive and explained the problem and they said that they were extremely busy and were down a couple of diesel mechanics--but told me to swing by the shop anyway. We made it to the parking lot and were welcomed in to the garage where Jamie and Chuck met us. They invited my kids, wife and parents in to the cool showroom to watch TV and have some popcorn. Even though they assured me that they could not get my truck in for a diagnosis that day and couldn't promise anything the next day either, Chuck dropped what he was doing, grabbed his diagnostic machine and went straight for my truck. He plugged in the code reader, read the code (I don't remember what it said) and cleared the code. I asked him what he would do if he was in my situation and he suggested that we buy a cheap code reader at AutoZone and keep it plugged in to the truck and clear the code as we go. He assured me based on the code that he read that it would not hurt the truck and we could keep on truckin'. So we bought the code reader, shook their hands and got back on the road. By the time we got to southern Missouri the code was no longer reading and the truck was running like a champ! Jamie and Chuck could have easily told us to get a hotel room and wreck our family vacation. But instead they took time out of their busy day and provided us with a solution--at no charge! So, thank you so much to Chuck, Jamie and Holm Automotive. I have a small business in Denver and when it comes time to purchase two new Duramax Trucks, Holm Automotive will be the place that I spend +/-$120,000.00. Thank you Chuck, Jamie and Holm Automotive! More
