Why didn't I read these before I did business with this place last week. The details are endless of the sham service I encountered. I take responsibility for calling them and asking specifically for a Honda CRV. And sure enough I got a photo of a bright white gleaming 2016 CRV. I was promised it was CLEAN - I asked over and over again as that was really important to me. I have to take a ferry ride to get to the mainland so it was important to conduct as much business as possible in advance. So...for a four year old CRV with 51,000 miles (trust me I question even that now) it seemed like the perfect deal. OMG. I showed up to find a cream colored car, NOT a gleaming white one. And the first thing I noticed were the dirty streaks on all four sides. Hmmm. But when I opened the door I could not believe the stench of wet dog and what one other person described as urine. The salesperson came out with a can of "new car smell" spray and tried to disguise the stench and was quickly washing the small wiry dog hair off the dashboard. Ok. So I was going to have to foot the bill to have the car professionally cleaned. I traded in my 2007 CRV and finally left feeling very dissatisfied. Not like I should have felt with a new car. I drove a couple miles up the road and discovered the AC did not work. It was a very warm day. I drove it back and they stuck it in the garage and it was soon becoming apparent that there was definitely something wrong. There was no record of the work - if any - this dealership did on the car. Upon reading the car fax I questioned why did they own the car for a full year before selling it? No specific answer. And the finance manager when I asked what service they performed mentioned "tweaking the AC". Ugh. It wasn't looking good. They knew I had a boat to catch to get home. They pumped the AC or charged it and it was mildly cool until I was on the highway for 15 MINUTES and blowing hot air. And then the fun began. They absolutely refused to take my calls or to return my calls. Someone I had not dealt with the entire day named Joe told me my problem and I would have to deal with the service department. So with no alternative I tried to make an appointment and was told it would be at least a week and a half before I could get it in and they might not have the part. After all, as mentioned, it was COVID - 19 and they were behind. Mentioning that I had just BOUGHT the car gave me no clout whatsoever. THAT WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT WAS DISCOVERED WHEN I FINALLY REACHED HOME. My son in law went under the car to see about the AC and discovered the entire undercarriage was completely corroded. And upon inspecting the engine going down one layer underneath the shiny new covers they installed the entire engine was completely white with corrosion and all the bolts were incredibly rusted. THIS CAR HAD BEEN IN OR CONSTANTLY EXPOSED TO SALT WATER!!!! I live on an island and have been through 13 years of N'oreasters with pounding surf and driven through salt spray over and over. My car is parked daily on a 35 foot stretch of sand between the ocean and the saltwater lagoon. My car in no way looks anything like how corroded and rusted this piece of junk was. BOTTOM LINE...THE SAME DAY I TOOK POSSESSION I CALLED AND WARNED THEM MY NEXT PHONE CALL WAS TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, AND I WOULD BE FILING A CHAPTER 93A AND CONTACTING THE BBB. WITHIN 5 MINUTES I RECEIVED A CALL ASKING IF I WOULD LIKE TO "RETURN THE CAR THE NEXT DAY". And last but not least these men - these incredibly hostile, rude, I daresay misogynistic creeps managed to "lose" the $250.00 key that went with the car I turned it and were nothing short of thuggish when I tried to get them to look for it. Thank goodness Colonial Honda was right up the road where I went to purchase a new key but purchased a new car instead! CAVEAT EMPTOR. For me, better late than never.
