It’s been a hot minute since I was in the market for a new car, and I fully expected my experience at Honda of Bend to be no different than any other time I’ve stepped onto a lot — “What brings you in today?” followed by someone shadowing you while you casually try to browse inventory and figure out if you even want to be there. But surprisingly, my experience at Honda of Bend was actually… pleasant. Luke was my OG. Even though he’s newer to the game and still has his sales training wheels on, he was genuinely eager to understand what I was looking for without overstepping. We talked through a bunch of different factors and eventually narrowed it down to two options: the Passport and the Pilot. As my car-buying adventure evolved, I found myself back at Honda several times — mostly to check out new inventory coming in for the 2026 models so I could make a more informed decision. Because of that, Luke wasn’t always available, and I ended up working with Naomi as well. Naomi was a breath of fresh air. Super easy to work with, incredibly accommodating, never pushy, and it genuinely felt like she had my (and my family’s) best interest in mind. She even let us test drive one of the models all the way to our house (about five minutes away) so we could see how it fit in our garage — especially considering it’s 25 inches longer than our previous car. In the end, I went with a 2026 Passport TrailSport. It wasn’t available on their lot — it was sitting at another dealership about three hours away. Instead of shrugging and wishing me luck, manager David stepped up and agreed to have it delivered to Bend to earn my business. Even better? I paid under MSRP. The freight to truck it over was $500, which felt more than reasonable considering how in-demand this vehicle is. All in all, this wasn’t the stereotypical “brace yourself” car-buying experience I was expecting. It was straightforward, low-pressure, and honestly kind of refreshing. If you’re in the market and don’t want to feel like prey on a lot, I’d recommend giving them a shot — and ask for Luke or Naomi. More
