I contacted Easterns on 11/2 6:30pm through Autotrader. com's form submittal and I received a phone call immediately from Easterns about the vehicle that I was interested in. The vehicle was listed on Auto com's form submittal and I received a phone call immediately from Easterns about the vehicle that I was interested in. The vehicle was listed on Autotrader.com as "Undergoing Certification" at their Sterling, VA location. I asked when it would be available to test drive and James, from Easterns told me that I could come the next day to one of their locations that was closer to me (since I am out of state). I setup an appointment at 3 pm to test drive it the next day 11/3 in Frederick, MD. My husband and I arrived at 2:45 (this was still 45 min drive one way) and we were told that the vehicle wasn't there and the person we spoke to was in a call center and never should have said that they could have the vehicle in Frederick. Easterns advertises all over their website that ANY of their vehicles can be seen at all of their locations. After expressing my dissatisfaction about this, I was then asked if I wanted to see a newer model of the vehicle on their lot (which was more expensive). I declined since the one I specifically came to look at had all of the features and was in my price range. Julian, the sales manager then said that they could compensate us for gas after I pressed the issue of wasting gas, and they put $35 of gas in our Ford F-250 for the inconvenience. I explained that I was ready to buy the vehicle today and then Julian said that it might not be listed at the same price that they showed on their website (and Autotrader.com) and that it could be more expensive than that price. This was a classic BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC that they used on me! I spent the next morning calling the Sterling, VA and customer care locations and not one manager (Jay, Douglas & Alex) offered anything other than an apology that it happened. My concern is for other folks, that they are using these BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS and that they will continue to do this until someone finally puts a stop to it. Today 11/4, the vehicle is now listed on their website at a price that is $1,400 HIGHER than the original price posted both on their website and Autotrader.com. I explained if they were still certifying the vehicle, they never should have listed a price on it, instead they baited me into coming to their dealership with a low price, tried to sell me another higher priced similar vehicle and then raised the price of this vehicle by $1,400 AFTER I EXPRESSED INTEREST in only that vehicle. BUYERS BEWARE! This is dishonest and illegal to do to customers. I asked if I could speak to the owner, Robert Bassam and was told that he doesn't talk to customers. As a business owner myself, I explained that this is unacceptable and that they should not be putting any price on the vehicle until they certify it and know if it needs repairs. Instead they are deploying these BAIT AND SWITCH tactics to get people into their dealership and then raising the price after they tell people the vehicle is not available that day. I gave them another opportunity to make this right and perhaps offer me the vehicle at the original listed price and allow me to test drive it. I told them that I NEVER give companies a bad review and always give them a chance to rectify a complaint, but that I was going to post negative reviews online since they did nothing other than to offers excuses and a lame apology that this happened.
