When a guest tells us the check-engine light is on and asks us to determine why, the guest agrees to pay a diagnostic fee plus tax and a nominal shop supplies charge. Otherwise, we cannot examine that vehicle. After examining your high-mileage vehicle, we found that its condition did not justify such costly repairs. We shared that information with you and you declined the repairs. Our Service Manager witnessed your exchange with our Service Adviser.
