My experience at Autobarn Subaru in Countryside was very refreshing. There were no games played. Just good service and honest negotiating. We had all the time we wanted to look over and test drive the used Forester. After we negotiated a price we took the car to our mechanic to make sure everything was sound. There was never a rush or pressure to close the deal. We appreciate Mario's straight forward manner and would feel comfortable recommending him to friends. More

My side of this story is as follows. I knew the type of automobile I wanted, namely, a small SUV. I took my time. I recommend to try and avoid being in a hurry to buy your next car. I spent three month automobile I wanted, namely, a small SUV. I took my time. I recommend to try and avoid being in a hurry to buy your next car. I spent three months. I researched various car rating web-sites, including Consumer Reports. I arrived at an amount I would expect to pay for the car, and I knew the ratings and histories of the various makes. I currently had a ten-year old CRV that still runs like new, and very little ever went wrong with it. My new car had to be at least as good as that. I test drove all of the available makes of small SUV's that were in my price range. A few models were almost double in price, and I decided that was not worth it. When I test drove the Subaru Forester Limited, I was sold. I just knew that would be my next automobile. All of the other makes had the exact same features, interiors, and prices; but this Limited just felt good. I note here that I did not test-drive the Subaru at Autobarn, but at another Subaru dealer that boasts of a life-time warranty. My girlfriend, now my fiance', suggested I visit Autobarn and see what they had to say. So, on April 30, 2012, the last day of the month, after 6:30 in the evening, I walked into the Autobarn dealeship knowing exactly what I wanted, armed with all of my facts, and the price I expected to pay. I planned on hearing what they had to say, and go home and think about it. Then, Mario came and greeted me. I was ready for another aggressive car sales person, asking leading questions, putting me on the defensive, hammering for that sale, causing me to yearn to get this visit over with. I had experienced quite a few of these over the past three months. Mario was different. He was reserved, and very friendly, he put me at ease. Eventhough,as he later told me that he has been selling cars for nineteen years, and he was definetely the expert here, who could run rings around me; I felt at ease. I felt that I was in control, I felt good. That is a good feeling when you are seriously contemplating buying a car. We looked at one Limited, and then at one other. Then we sat down for the nitty-gritty. I was ready for this. I expected he would offer a price higher than I wanted, and then I would try to bargain. He came back with a price that was actually lower than I anticipated. This was when I realized I might actually purchase an automobile tonight, rather than go home and think about it. I conferred with my daughter via cell-phone. My daughter is very good at bargaining. She did not like the color of the 1st car I wanted. The second car was Silver, but lacked navigation and a back-up camera, two very expensive features I was willing to forgo. Mario offered a price on the second Limited, this was also less than I expected to pay. My daughter cautioned me about those extra hidden fees and transportation charges. I grilled Mario about these, he assured me the only additional charges would be a doc fee and taxes. So, instead of thinking about it some more, I told Mario I would go ahead with his offer. I qualified for the very lowest financing rate. I next visited the Business manager, Brian. Here, I expected hidden fees, other charges, and the price to be much more than Mario said. Instead, Brian was very nice, and straightforward, He showed me various protection and maintenance plans in a sober business-like manner. Again, I felt at ease. I chose some things I thought would be beneficial and a good investment. I wound up paying just under what I expected to pay, but I got much more. The Subaru Limited feels even better after a few days of driving it, then during the test drive. Mario conveyed an all-important quality that is almost non-existent in the automobile sales industry, credibility. In the end, I believed what Mario had to say. There were no hidden fees. Mario is friendly, reserved, even humble at times. If a Subaru is what you want, Autobarn is where you would want to purchase it. More

For my 2012 WRX purchase I worked with Mario Nowik. Though most people wouldn't associate buying a car with an "enjoyable experience", I can say that I really enjoyed working with Mario. My time is valuable and I appreciated the fact that Mario was direct and straight-forward. Working together, we were quickly review my interests and price range to assemble a deal that made myself, Mario and the dealership happy. Driving off the lot I felt surprisingly great, unlike some of my experiences at other dealerships. Bottom line is this, do your homework on the car you want and Mario and the rest of the team will work with you to ensure you get a solid deal. In my opinion, I couldn't ask for anything more. Beyond sales, I would also add that my experience with the service department has been nothing short of exceptional. As someone who is a bit of a fanatic about maintaining his car, I have gotten to know the Autobarn service team well. Scott Pothoff, a former service manager, always took incredible care of me. I always knew that he was focused on giving me honest feedback and not simply trying to sell me something. I feel confident about this because my friend is a Subaru mechanic in California and confirmed what I heard. Now that Scott has left, Jon Gomes has taken over. I'll admit, I was concerned that Scott's departure would hurt the level of service I had received; however, I have to give a great deal of credit to Jon, as he has carried the torch and maintained that exceptional level of customer service. Finally, I would also like to thank the 'younger contingent' in the service department. Anytime I have stopped in the guys have been proactive in approaching me and very courteous. Suffice to say, to the hiring manager, great work on building such a solid team all around. Best, M. Logsdon More

I called a hand full of Subaru dealers in the Chicago land area for two weeks before making the decision to go with Countryside. When I was ready to buy, most of the new 2011 Foresters were sold out lea land area for two weeks before making the decision to go with Countryside. When I was ready to buy, most of the new 2011 Foresters were sold out leaving only the base model at various dealers. I wanted a limited with navi and the only choice was the 2012 model. The numbers of Foresters that were being delivered in that trim and with that option limited my choices of color and dealerships. I ended up with a red limited Forester with navi. The process with Mario was good from start to finish. He was professional and courteous all the way though. The price we got was through Costco auto program and it was better then the price I negotiated with dealers and better then the invoice price from truecar.com. Either I'm a really bad haggler or I got a great deal. Whatever the case I'm still happy with my purchase. Thank you Mario. The dealer ship is located on a strip with many other dealers in the area on a very busy street. Getting to the dealer isn't too difficult though. I need a place to get maintenance and service work on my vehicle and Countryside would be my natural choice, however I noticed that other dealers up north and in the city have better service coupons, specials, and lower parts prices then Countryside. I know I have to come in for a oil change in a couple of months and I hope Countryside runs some better promotions soon. More

We got an internet quote from Melissa so we went to the dealership. Mario greeted us at the lot. Then he provided us the info of the vehicle that we're looking for while Melissa was off. We had a very p dealership. Mario greeted us at the lot. Then he provided us the info of the vehicle that we're looking for while Melissa was off. We had a very pleasant experience with Mario. He is very friendly, sincere and knowledgeable about the vehicle. More importantly, he is not pushing and honest about the price. However, our deal was almost blown off with the Finance Dept but we stayed because of Mario. We appreciated his patient to stay extra hours for us. More

My wife and I stopped by Countryside Subaru to look at new Imprezas and Legacys. We were waited on by Mario Nowik. Mario was very helpful and friendly, did not apply any pressure, and helped us to test dr new Imprezas and Legacys. We were waited on by Mario Nowik. Mario was very helpful and friendly, did not apply any pressure, and helped us to test drive both vehicles. We were not ready to buy that night, so Mario gave us his card and told us "Call me when you're ready." A few days later, after I had done my research, we decided to pursue a Legacy. I checked pricing at a few other dealers, then contacted Mario to see if he could match. He didn't just match, he offered to beat their price! Great! Countryside did not have the trim in the color we wanted, so Mario went to work to find us a car. Unfortunately, my "research" got in his way. Because I had asked around, none of the other dealers were willing to trade him a Legacy in the trim/color we wanted. They knew that someone was interested and wanted to make the sale themselves. While obviously disappointed, Mario remained professional. He explained the situation to us, and told us that he would be there if we decided to go with a different color. So, even though we did not buy a car from Mario, I felt strongly enough about his service and professionalism that I decided to write this review. If you are looking for a new Subaru in the Chicago area, go to Countryside and ask for him. I know I will, when the time comes. More

My husband and I went into this dealership in Countryside to test drive a 2011 Forester. We saw the excellent rating for safety that the Forester received in Consumer Reports magazine. We were met by Mario, to test drive a 2011 Forester. We saw the excellent rating for safety that the Forester received in Consumer Reports magazine. We were met by Mario, a salesman, when we walked through the door. Mario was personable, accommodating, and easy to work with. We test drove a couple of different Foresters in different colors, with different price points. We had no intention of buying a car that day. However, the dealership ultimately met our price, which we felt was a good deal. We felt compelled to accept the deal right then and there rather than shop around with other dealerships. At the auto show, we received a coupon for a $250 manufacturer's rebate. We applied the coupon once we were done negotiating. The auto purchase was the quickest and least stressful car buying experience that we have ever had, in great part due to the efforts of Mario. The dealership has a small showroom, but they appear to have a large inventory of cars as we were able to look at the Forester in a variety of colors, with a variety of options. My husband and I were very pleased with the dealership, and Mario in particular. We would highly recommend choosing this dealership to purchase your next Subaru. I can't speak to the service department in this dealership, but these people make your car buying experience hassle free. We bought our Forester about 1200 miles ago, and we love it! More
