First, when I called the Service Dept this morning, I knew my car needed an oil & filter change and asked whether any additional service was recommended. My car is a 2016 Subaru Outback and has 56,000 miles. I was informed that no additional services were required at this time so I did not need an appt but could just use the Express Service lane to get an oil change at any time without an appt. When I arrived later this morning, the service advisor immediately advised that I needed $1,000 + of services that included a tire rotation and replacement of spark plugs. I told him the service person I talk with earlier this morning said all I needed was an oil change. I also told him I get my tires rotation at Costco where I purchased them for no additional cost so did not want this service done. I also questioned why he was advising additional 60,000 mile service when the person I spoke with did not even so much as mentioned it. When he told me that replacement of spark plugs would cost me I believe $446 included in the 60,000 mile package, I declined this service. He said Subaru recommended the plugs be changed at 60,000 miles; my car is at 56,000 miles! To top it out, when I checked out, the service advisor gave me a repair estimate to replace the spark plugs of $571 and said it would be more since I did not have it done as part of the 60,000 service package -- he failed to tell me this until after the fact, which is not at all helpful and personally offensive. He scheduled and performed services included in a 30,000 service package that I agreed to. After I got home, I called two other service shops I go to and they verified the 60,000 mile Subaru spark plug replacement recommendation. One quoted a cost of $428.80 and the other $360. Your dealership cost are not even close so I will likely choose the latter estimate ($360) sine they service our other vehicle and their work has been excellent. Generally I like your dealership but my last two visits for service in your new facility has been less than satisfactory. I expect professional service and honesty. Also prices charged must be competitive. I had thought of trying other Subaru dealers for comparison but prefer to be able to deal with the dealer where purchased my vehicle. Needless to say lately I have been very disappointed and am beginning to not trust advice given. More
