I brought my Jeep back to Peltier Nissan on April 3rd — just over a month after buying it — due to grinding brakes. They told me the pads and rotors needed replacement and later added that both front brake just over a month after buying it — due to grinding brakes. They told me the pads and rotors needed replacement and later added that both front brake lines had to be replaced. I expressed concern, because the Carfax showed the brake system had already been replaced by them before I purchased the vehicle. Before paying, I was given a test drive with a technician. During that drive, I clearly stated that the brake pedal was going all the way to the floor. I was told this was “normal” and that I wasn’t used to how proper brakes should feel. Based on that explanation, I authorized the $1,275.16 repair. On April 10th, I picked the Jeep up. I drove straight from the dealership to a certified shop (Grease Monkey #3021) for a second opinion. They immediately found an active brake fluid leak at the banjo bolt washers — the exact area Nissan had just serviced. The leak could have led to complete brake failure. The mechanics at Grease Monkey also confirmed that replacing both brake lines wasn’t necessary — only the driver side showed symptoms. I contacted the dealership’s General Manager directly. I explained all of this in detail. He refused to take any responsibility, claiming the leak was a “separate issue” because it was found by another shop — despite the fact it was discovered immediately after I left the dealership and was directly connected to the repair they performed. I never received an apology. Just dismissal and deflection. Peltier Nissan allowed me to drive off the lot in a vehicle that had a brake fluid leak — after I gave them multiple chances to catch it, including during a supervised test drive where I described abnormal brake pedal behavior. This wasn’t wear and tear. It was a failure of safety and service. More
