happened after my lease deserves to be told.
This was my first Mercedes and my first time leasing a vehicle. I believed that when someone gives you their word, it means something. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that if it is not in writing, you should not rely on it.
I leased my own Mercedes from Ray Catena Mercedes-Benz of Edison. About two weeks later, I brought my father in and he leased one too. I personally paid his down payment because he did not have the money, and I wanted him to experience owning a Mercedes. I worked hard to save that money, and bringing him into that showroom was one of the proudest moments of my life.
Before my father leased his vehicle, I asked whether I would receive the Mercedes glass set if I brought him in. I was verbally told yes. That was not an unusual request because the dealership had already honored another souvenir promise during my own lease. I had every reason to believe this promise would also be honored.
After my father signed, everything changed.
Management denied that the promise had ever been made. Instead of standing behind what I had been told, the discussion turned into an argument over which salesperson said it and whether that person had authority. As a customer, I have no way of knowing who has authority inside the dealership. A promise made by a dealership representative on the showroom floor should be a promise made by the dealership.
I was then told the $178 Mercedes glass set would come out of the salesperson’s own pocket and that he had only made about $70 on the deal, as though I should feel guilty for asking the dealership to honor the promise they made before receiving a second lease from my family.
I repeatedly asked to speak with the General Manager. Instead, I was kept speaking with another manager who wanted me to continue the conversation inside a private office. I respectfully declined because I did not feel comfortable discussing the matter behind closed doors. I preferred to remain in the public showroom near the front counter where other customers and employees were present.
While I was standing there waiting to speak with the General Manager, I was told that the police would be called if I did not leave. I never threatened anyone. I never yelled. I never became aggressive. I was emotional because I felt blindsided after helping bring the dealership two completed leases from one family. My voice was shaking and at times I struggled to speak, but I remained calm.
I have a recording from that interaction. It is mostly audio, but it captures my emotional state and shows that I remained in the public showroom. I welcome the dealership to preserve and review its complete security footage because it will show exactly what happened.
The receptionist treated me with kindness and professionalism throughout the interaction, and I appreciate that. My complaint is not about her. My complaint is with how management handled the situation after the promise was denied.
To make matters worse, after driving my brand new leased vehicle directly home from the dealership, I noticed what appears to be a small paint chip. I documented it immediately and contacted the dealership about it.
This was never about a $178 glass set. It was about honesty, integrity, and standing behind your word. I trusted this dealership enough to lease my own Mercedes, bring my father in for a second lease, and I was even planning to bring my mother in for a third. Instead, I left feeling humiliated and deeply disappointed.
If you choose to do business with this dealership, get every promise in writing before you sign anything. Do not rely on verbal commitments. My experience taught me that lesson the hard way.

It is unfortunate that what should have been a special experience for your father turned into such a negative situation because you believed you were entitled to receive additional complimentary items.
Our goal is always to provide every customer with an exceptional experience, but that does not mean every item on display in our showcase is offered free of charge. During your visit, I personally opened the showcase while Greg Giordano selected several complimentary gifts for you and your father, including a cooler and a hat. I also recall you requesting an EQ keychain, which was provided as well.
At no point while I was present did you mention wanting a glass set. I left the dealership shortly afterward because it was my wedding anniversary, so I was not there for what occurred later. However, I have seen your original review before it was changed, and it is disappointing that the situation escalated the way it did.
Most concerning is that your behavior created an uncomfortable situation for several members of our staff, particularly our receptionist, who should always be treated with courtesy and respect. We value honest feedback, but we also expect our employees to be treated respectfully.
We genuinely appreciate every customer who chooses to do business with us, and we strive to exceed expectations whenever possible. We simply ask that the same level of respect be extended to our team.

Looking back, I realize this wasn’t just about the souvenir. During my first lease, I arrived around 2:40 p.m. for my scheduled appointment and didn’t leave until after 6 p.m. I waited well over 90 minutes before anything really started. No one checked on us, offered water, or tried to accommodate us we had to find the customer lounge ourselves. I accepted it because I was excited about my first Mercedes. Looking back now, combined with everything that happened afterward, including being threatened with police for asking to speak with the General Manager, I feel the overall experience showed a lack of respect for me as a customer. These people will try to deny, but then why main sales person who I had Appointment with to get everything closed to hand me over to another sales person??
My personal experience with other dealerships and brands for my parents leases , when close a deal , the manager checks up to see how things and shake hands to congrats on car. Never once seen manager on both transactions
I’ll admit I’m scared to go back to dealership to get my car plates , I had traumatic history of discrimination in past, and for them to wanting me to put me away from public view surrounded by there employees seem like those casino movies and I’m not risking that, and I have recording to prove my state of being, that I was not violent or anything,
The only person I’ll give shout out to is the receptionist since she has lot of empathy, nice genuine person , and if the manager is reading this, I hope you see potential since she be great dealing with people . Not some sales person who claimed to be manager and wasn’t , and not even connecting to the general manager.

It’s funny how you have blandtly lied , I was extremely nice to the receptionist and even in my review I said receptionist is the only person who has been nice
And I also have phone recording , as proof to show status . So anyone reading all this and you saying I was bad to the reception contradicts the review I made about receptionist since I said great things .
Now you just proved publicly the flat out lies! And there’s time stamp on it
The first car lease yes agree on the set perks that I received , and before leaving dealership told your colleague if able to convince my dad to get lease, to get that glass as well. So not entitlement when making a deal to get my Busieness
And great thing is I have video recording , proof that I was no threat or anything. Even your own camera footage will show otherwise. I posted publicly so people and you just proven what doesn’t make sense when saying I was bad to receptionist when I was nice and thankful to her for being nice person and having empathy!!
So thank you for proving publicly since I have recording slight emotional cry but never threat ,
Also might as well tell people how long I had to wait on my first lease since you were busy with a client even thou I had an appointment with you on my first lease .
