Long distance purchase Called around to a few dealers and struggled to find the combination of colors and options I wanted for a Dodge Ram 1500. Also, getting someone to call you back seemed to be a struggle at a couple different dealers. Just by chance I came across Dick Scott Motor Mall that had the vehicle I wanted 230 miles away on the ramtruck.com website. I called and spoke with someone and left my phone number. The person who answered the phone was very polite and said someone would call me be back first thing in morning as it was 6:00 PM and the dealer was closing. At 7:30 PM the same day (after the dealer was closed) I got a call from Nelson. Nelson asked me what I was looking for and asked other questions germane to my inquiry. He said he would call me first thing in morning with pricing information. As a side note, I had found another vehicle that I would have purchased a day earlier, but a competitive dealer was poor with follow up and I got frustrated waiting for information. My philosophy has always been, if someone does not take care of you during the sale are they going to take care of you after the sale? Nelson called back as promised with competitive pricing. Also, showed an eagerness to do whatever it would take to make the "deal". There was only one problem, how was I going to get the vehicle 230 miles away? I was trying to make arrangements to come and pick up but it just was not going to happen. Well, Nelson suggested that they could delivery to me to my doorstep for no additional charge. Done deal. We had a phone agreement by noon on Friday and the Ram was delivered by Dennis at about 2:30 PM the next day (Saturday)! One day later my new Dodge Ram truck was in my driveway 230 miles away! Oh, by the way, I added a tonneau cover and bed liner that had to be installed and they still made their delivery commitment of Saturday. After Dennis and I talked for a few minutes I found out that a close friend of mind in the Detroit area was great customer at Dick Scott Motor Mall. I since talk to my friend and his favorable impression of Dick Scott Motor Mall was the same as mine. They are doing something right. There was no funny business with numbers which sometimes can be the case with some dealers. They gave their best price out of gate. I never felt pressured by Nelson, only that if that was the vehicle I wanted they would do their best to meet my expectations and put me in the vehicle. I am coming out of a competitive lease hence me shopping for a new vehicle. My wife and I will be shopping for another vehicle this fall and they will have first opportunity to win our business based on the experience with Nelson and the Dick Scott Motor Mall team. And yes, I would strongly urge anyone interested in a Chrysler product to call them and ask for Nelson Cypher. More

A Pleasant Surprise For me (and many others, I think it's safe to say), going to the car dealership is usually about as pleasant as a root canal. Like politicians and op For me (and many others, I think it's safe to say), going to the car dealership is usually about as pleasant as a root canal. Like politicians and open-mouthed gum chewers, high-pressure sales tactics rank high on my list of major irritants. I am a very informed and well-prepared consumer, knowledgeable about automobiles in general, and more than willing to negotiate aggressively. Also, I am intimately familiar with the usual tricks of the trade, various sales tactics and psychological ploys, and other shenanigans some of the less-scrupulous salespeople try to pull. I make these things very clear right up front, and request that the or she not play games. It's a sure way to make we walk out the door, but sad to say, it seems to be commonplace. It's no wonder car salesmen get a bad rap as smarmy hucksters. I am happy to say that my experience with Dick Scott Motor Mall was none of those things. Based on other Internet reviews, I contacted Sales Manager Don Harley and laid everything out (I was looking at a new Ram 1500). Don was exceptionally accommodating; despite the fact that I live over 30 miles from the dealership, he offered to have a vehicle brought to me to test drive if it was more convenient than going there. When I explained that I had a trade-in, he asked me to send pictures of the vehicle to give me a ballpark value estimate. The next day he emailed me back, and to my surprise, his offer was excellent. More surprisingly, he offered over $1500 dollars more for my trade-in than a local Lansing Ford dealership, and that was for trading in TWO vehicles (I am not making this up). I told him I'd be over within a few days to check things out. You know how it is to walk into a place and get that instant "vibe?" I don't know about you, but most car dealerships give me an instant uncomfortable, almost creepy feeling. Employees are quiet, even sullen. Not much humor and an air of unfriendliness ranging from apathy to mild disdain. Not so with Dick Scott Motor Mall. I was immediately impressed walking into the place. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. Employees were smiling and joking around. You can tell a lot about an organization's culture by sitting back and observing its personnel and how they interact with not only the customers, but each other. My impression throughout was that Dick Scott's employees actually like being there. Due to a scheduling conflict, Don wasn't able to meet with me personally, but he put me in touch with Nelson Cypher. Nelson was great. He was straightforward, honest, and completely transparent. He laid out all the numbers, broken down exactly as I wanted. No games, no "what do you want your payment to be?" or "I'll have to clear that with my sales manager" baloney. Nelson was also extremely knowledgeable about the Ram, which isn't something I can say about a lot of other salespeople. He took the time to go over buying and leasing options, explaining the pros and cons of each. Nelson knew that I knew what I was doing, but I get the impression that even the most naive, inexperienced car shopper would be treated with the same level of respect I received. Needless to say, a couple days later I drove off the lot with a nice Ram 1500 Big Horn (and yeah, it's got a Hemi). My entire experience was top-notch, maybe the best I've experienced in all my years of buying cars. If I had to choose one word to describe it, I would say "transparent." That's a real compliment in an industry where sneakiness and obfuscation seems to be the norm. I haven't had any service done yet, but if their service department is as good as their sales, I have little doubt it will achieve the same high standards. I recommend these folks without reservation and intend to do business with them in the future. More
