Land Rover Alexandria responded

Prince, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and for your patience as we reviewed the details. Our findings confirmed both keys had been left inside the vehicle for an extended period, which can deactivate them and trigger an immobilization condition. Because of this, potential module replacement was discussed in advance as part of a complete diagnostic approach. Once testing was completed, we were able to successfully reprogram your existing keys and provided the updated $640 repair figure before any outside contact was made. The situation was later reviewed with Land Rover, and they supported the diagnosis and resolution provided. A member of our team will be reaching out shortly to go over everything with you directly. -The Management Team

Thank you for your response however your explanation confirms exactly what I have been saying all along. You admitted the keys were deactivated because they were left inside the vehicle. This is precisely the problem. A vehicle should never lock itself and deactivate both keys simultaneously with no warning and no alert to the owner. The keys were left inside for approximately 24 hours and at no point did the vehicle send any notification through the InControl app, dashboard alert, or any other means before completely immobilizing itself. This is a fundamental design failure on Land Rover’s part not owner error. Furthermore your claim that the $640 figure was provided before any outside contact is completely false. I was originally quoted $3,000 for a full KVM module replacement. It was only after I contacted Land Rover corporate, filed a BBB complaint, filed with NHTSA, the Virginia Attorney General, the FTC and posted publicly on multiple review platforms that the price was suddenly reduced. The timing of that reduction speaks for itself. You also attempted to charge me $750 at one point during this process. A vehicle under full factory warranty should not cost the owner anything when the vehicle’s own security system causes the problem. The fact that the price went from $3,000 to $750 to $640 proves the original quote was inflated and designed to take advantage of me. I am sharing this publicly so that other Range Rover owners are aware of these practices and know to push back before authorizing any expensive repairs. My NHTSA complaint, BBB case 24664452 and Attorney General complaints remain active and open.
