Unsafe vehicles; sounds rather alarming but here is the story.... Purchased a "like new" vehicle (mileage in the 20k) range. Purchase experience was ok and on par for what you would expect. However---mon story.... Purchased a "like new" vehicle (mileage in the 20k) range. Purchase experience was ok and on par for what you would expect. However---months after purchase, a number of warning lights come on and I take it immediately to a (different) local dealership to be diagnosed. Turns out the vehicle (which Koons Sterling Ford boasted about "new brake job") had been installed improperly. One of the four wheels had the brake pads put on backwards thus resulting over the last few months in a failure of the emergency brake system and now the vehicle is not drivable with unsafe braking---Koons Sterling Ford used after-market parts thereby invalidating the vehicle's warranty. I understand mistakes are made and its only one of the four tires (few hundred dollars estimate to fix). The dealership which I took the vehicle insisted that I take it back to Koons Sterling Ford as they would immediately see what was installed improperly and make it right. They didn't. After 8 days of attempting to get an answer, I am at a loss on what to do. Koons is willing to fix, but at my cost. So, if you are contemplating going here, I can safely say that there is a culture problem (perhaps from the recent sale of the dealership in the last few months - they are no longer owned by Jim Koons family but they are keeping the name---now owed by a different conglomerate). I have to say if you care about your self or family from a safety perspective, I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. If a dealership installs something that makes your vehicle unsafe, and then will not fix it (again--at a cost of several hundred dollars here). Then you may want to reconsider where you purchase your next vehicle. I will also add (to anyone who reads this entire review) that the laws are actually written to protect the consumer in cases such as this. Virginia has solid Consumer Protection Laws and the Consumer Protection Division of the State AG's office has already preliminarily agreed to take a look, so I have hope. Moreover, the sad part of a business decision here is to save themselves a few hundred dollars will end up costing Koons Sterling Ford thousands of dollars as civil action remains my only remedy. With car rental and other impacts (NONE of which I was seeking---I just wanted my brakes to be made right), its going to cost Koons Sterling Ford significantly more than what it would have to make the one brake/caliper right. Please reconsider the culture of any dealership; as I fear the above story is truly a cautionary tale for everyone. My apologies for such a long review, but as I heard from the State of Virginia; this story is worth telling. More

The salesman was surprised that I was able to notice the trend of increased pricing. "Oh you saw that and have been following?" It's like dealing with one of those dealerships in NY/NJ. These are the sales tactic that give care sales a horrible reputation. Buyer Beware on Koons Sterling Ford and JC Schied. I'm reporting these deceptive sales tactics to WANADA. Their internet sales manager responded right away that the car was available and we scheduled a time for me to stop by. The car *looked* great. However, the A/C did not work at all. I was surprised this was not discovered and fixed as part of a pre-sale inspection. They promised to fix the A/C if I bought the car. I asked about a discount and was told they have no-haggle pricing "like Carmax". Unlike Carmax, however, they don't offer any return period nor is their warranty as long. Since the car was exactly what I was looking for and a great price, I decided to take my chances. I told the finance manager, Samir, that this was a replacement for a car which had been totaled and I'd have an insurance check within a few days. Despite that, he insisted we use their financing and we should "pay it off" when the first statement arrived. Thier rates were 2x what my bank was offering. I should have insisted on using my bank, but it was getting late in the day and I just wanted to move forward. The A/C was fixed as promised. By the time I picked up the car, my insurance check had arrived. I asked again about paying with a check and the finance manager said we couldn't do that. As I was already on the fence about the car due to the A/C problem, I brought it to a nearby Honda dealer for a more complete inspection. The inspection revealed that Koon's service is excellent. They'd replaced the brakes, fluid, and fixed the A/C correctly. There were no issues to worry about with the car. Two days later, after getting no response from Samir, I stopped by the dealership and dropped off a check to cover the amount to be financed. Their sales manager accepted it with no issue, noting there was no reason I should have had to use their captive finance. Given their duplicity, I would recommend anyone to keep your wits about you and your cash in your pocket. More

They waste your time. Lie to you and are not willing to work with you. After being lied to and wasted hours of time plus driving 1hr 20min their “used car manager” Alex le Lie to you and are not willing to work with you. Alex did not car as he had the attitude I don’t you to buy the car cause I’ll sell it to someone else. Dealership looks nice decent selection but the people I dealt with are arrogant, not appreciative and just they seem to look down on you. Oh then they raised the price of the car the next day after telling me the price is locked in that price will not and cannot move. Right Alex right. More

The people in the sales department are honest people (not a joking!) and never attempted to persuade me into a purchase but rather, worked to keep my attention on a realistic goal as my ambition for a vehicle began to "soar". I live and work in New York. I visited Koons Sterling Ford because of the dealerships inventory but mostly because of their reputation which they actually surpass! I leave a review wherever the service I received substantially exceeded my expectation and Koons Sterling Ford certainly eliminated the stress involved with the purchase of a vehicle. Thanks to Syed and all of the others who ensured that my visit was a pleasure. More
