1930 Ford Model A In 1920s America, Ford was the undisputed king of the automotive world. After the release of their Model T in 1908, the company went on to sell over 15 million examples of the car and are credited with getting America on the road. Production of the Model T lasted for nearly 20 years and the car remained essentially unchanged- although it was still selling well into the mid 1920s, buyers began looking for a car with more weather protection and convenience features than the Model T could provide. Introduced in December of 1927, the Ford Model A was an immediate sales success- selling 1 million units in the first 14 months of production and on to 2 million after 18 months. With 9 body styles available, the Model A was built to fit any need and after just four years of production, Ford had sold nearly 5 million cars. With the Model A, simplicity and reliability were paramount when it came to the design of the vehicle. Powered by a 201ci Inline-4, the engine produced 40 horsepower and could propel the car to a top speed of nearly 65 mph. That engine was paired to a 3-speed manual gearbox and the car was slowed down by a set of four wheel mechanical drum brakes. Not a sports car by any means, the Model A became an extremely sought after platform for hot rodding and the chassis had a resurgence. Thanks to this, the aftermarket for these cars is now stronger than ever and allows for all sorts of customizations and updates to make the car look, sound and drive better than they ever did when new. This 1930 Model A is an absolutely immaculate example having undergone a recent restoration and features some subtle upgrades that enhance the driving experience tremendously. From the outside, this looks like a pretty standard Model A Roadster but the first thing you are struck by is the color. The non-metallic gray paint is a standard color for the car that looks almost modern and the chrome work is immaculate. The black fenders and running boards highlight the black bodyline around the car and the striking cream wire wheels match the subtle pinstripe that makes its way down the top of the doorline. On the interior, the vehicle presents in better than new condition with a black vinyl bench seat and the crucially important safety update-seatbelts. Behind the newer black convertible top the car has a fantastic rumble seat that has been upholstered in the same material as the front seats and makes for a truly unique motoring experience-even as a passenger. Under the hood, the car sports a Diamond Block which has been bored .60 over to increase displacement and adjustable lifters have been added for engine smoothness and longevity. The engine also received a counterbalanced crankshaft- a critical modification that reduces engine vibrations and cuts down on bearing wear inside the engine. Perhaps the most important modification made to this Model A is the Mitchell transmission- with synchros on both second and third gear as well as revised ratios, t
