My Review of Atlantic Toyota:
I can't believe all the bad reviews I see on this website for this dealer. Maybe only the unhappy customers posted. I had a very positive buying experience here in August/September 2004. I went in because an ad in Newsday said $750 off he list price of all Siennas. This was a good deal at the time since it was a new model and the usual discount was $500. I was greeted by and dealt with a saleman named Mitch. I think his last name was "Messling", or something like that. He was very professional. He had us drive the car and then let my wife and I talk it over. There was never any pressure. He asked what other vehicles we were looking at (Honda Odyssey). He asked what other dealers we had been to (Honda City). He asked why we didn't buy the Odyssey from them (low value on trade in). He beat the Honda dealers trade in value by $500. He explained that kbb.com and other sites can give values for used cars, but they don't have to buy them and resell them. He explained that th trade in price is based on what the cars sell for at auction. He let us bargain down another couple of hundred from the already offered $750 off sticker. He asked if I wanted to finance through Toyota. I told him that I could get 4.9% on line through Capital One, but if Toyota was close to that, no problem. I was shocked when I cam to pick up the van and Toyota had actually undercut Capital One (4.3%).There was never any pressure or tricky tactics at all. Of course I had to meet with the closer who tried to sell me an alarm and an extended warranty, but even he was not a problem.
Mitch even met us when we picked up the car and went over all the controls with us.
I can't say as much for their service dept. They constantly try to sell unnecessary services like "their plan". I have dropped the car for routine things like oil changes and tire rotations, only to have them call me and try to sell services the manufacturer doesn't even recommend, like the 15,000 mile service, 20,000 mile service. They even told me that I should get my fuel injectors cleaned at 20,000 miles, even though the car was running fine. They even tried to sell me the in cabin air flter for soething like $80 installed. I bought a Bosch replacement at Auto Barn for about $25 and changed it myself in five minutes. But again, once they were put in their place and they received a couple of bad reviews on those all important dealer reiew surveys, they chilled out.
They have been good in fixing two things under warranty, a power window motor and a couple of sensors that went out. Each time the car was left overnight and was ready the next day.
Overall, I'd say sales were an "A plus", at least my salesman, and service was a "C".
